lost key

Featured Replies

So, I lost my Octavia flip key, my only one.

The Skoda dealership near me quoted £150 for a new key and fob, just wondering if there's any chance of getting one for cheaper?

not one teeny weeny bit of help? :(

We may be able to do it cheaper for you, but of course it depends on your location on whether it'd be worth the drive.

Well, the massive problem we have here is...

It was my only key, so can't drive the car anywhere, cant even get in the bloody thing.

I think I'm going to have to swallow the £150 from the dealer like a bad pill. But if I can get a second key cheaper (and being able to drive the car to your place would help Sharks) I'll probably do that so I don't have this problem.

According to Hayselden I have to buy the key and fob from them first, use the key to get into the car and tow/pickup the car to their place where they can program the fob to work the immobiliser and remote locking. Nightmare...

So I need a tow hitch, is a static bar ok or should I get one with a dampener?

I'm near Doncaster btw

A similar thing happened to me a few years ago. I only had one key and dropped it down a storm drain. I got the car recovered home and the recovery guy put me in touch with an independent to replace the key. He quoted me £250 to do it. Apparently, he had a mate who worked at VW who could generate the codes for the new key/car. Not wanting to pay that amount and not feeling entirely comfortable with the VW "mate" relationship, I went back to the drain and eventually fished it out with a magnet taped to a stick. The door remote was shot but the transponder is a sealed unit so still started the car. I took it to a Skoda garage and they replaced the key/performed the reprogramming for £140.

I had to do this but as a second key last September it cost me £115 from Grey Gables in Witney, really good guys, however as you said they need the car,the V proof of ID etc to ensure that you ain't nicked it, as this was your only key a main dealer will have to be involved so that the correct lock profile can be cut to allow key entry and ignition access. VCDS and ebay are possibilities for the second key but you do need a key to start with, my sympathies looks like it is £150 plus spend.Do you have home start? could be cheeky and ask for a tow to the local stealers...after all your car is broken....not being flippant just trying to save you a few squid....good luck
