215bhp Fabia vRS

195bhp and 300 lb/ft torque

Im feeling a re-remap coming on :)

unless they knocked the map back when they sold the car, a little disappointed

still plenty of power there though :giggle:

That's not so good mate, remap FTW! After you get your flywheel sorted.

Depends on the rolling road, its not unheard of, for another company to skew the figures, which its dead easy to do.

And then I amended my orignal post to the one you quoted.

I didnt realise the original one was pranged.

yes i have the car they got transferred onto...

that star car was an 04 plate

i have an 05, the 04 plate was pranged, so i have all the running gear on mine from the star car

I seen it nocking around carlisle when it was back to standard so I take it the guy who bought it from the garage it was traded at stuffed it ?

IIRC when all the bits were transfered over it had to have a new map because the ECU couldnt be transfered or something with the original star map on it ?

I'm sure Lewis will be able to tell you what the crack is

It originally had 215 and at a certain point in its life had more than that but was wound back because it was smoking too much, At that time I had 195/315 verified on 3 sets of rollers and it spanked me round knockhill on several occasions.

Phone Brian tomorrow and ask him 01259 655595, he doesnt really come on here now so i'm sure he'd like to defend his name and counter your allegations.

It's been ages since iv been on here, still some old faces around, i couldn't keep a car that long  ! but this isn't the ex star car you have jason.

Fair enough i transferd all the running gear from it onto this one - but when we swaped everything over and tryed to swap ecu's over to keep the origional remap that Jim created we couldn't, The allarm kept going off and wouldn't start etc - i can't remember all of it but we just left the origional ecus in each car and i took them to a guy and he read the star's map and coppied it as much as possible, I should have taken it up to Jim but i had no money left and had to find the cheapest option to get the car running.

I only ran it after i modified it for about 3k miles and it was a guy in carlisle who actualy remaped it, but before i sold it i took it back to him to turn down a touch.....since then the guy who mapped it moved abroad.

I have pictures somewhere on the old computer of the transfer, il have a ratch some time when im bored for them.

Just to confirm it wasn't Jim at star who made this 195.....hope this helps some confusion. :)

Spanked?

was there a noticeable difference?

i mean its going to cost 400 / 500 quid to map it again? is it worth that the difference or should i be content at 195?

and thanks lewis it makes sense now :)

Spanked, more from the torque than the BHP, up the straight I was happily holding an LCR as the three of us came out of the hairpin for the long drag up the hill but Brian would sail past and by the entry to SEAT he would be a good half dozen legnths on me with the LCR still up my chuff.

Maybe you should take it back to Jim and Brian at Star.

And maybe you should edit the thread title and your first post, or at least apologise for accusing them of lying before you do go and vist :giggle:

i dont think he should he wasnt accusing anyone he was asking a question, and hes now been provided with the answer to why it doesnt hit the originally claimed figure!

I know this is getting a bit of a Cliche now .... But.... It is really how the car drives...

I went chasing figures on one of my earlier SUbarus, Started at the standard 215 & ended up at 330 / 320 I should of stopped at the 280 Bhp mark , as Bizarely it felt better/more driveable at that .. But no .. The Rolling road was my friend / enemy :D

You should notice the difference, depending on your other mods, mine has achieved 210bhp & 365lb & when i boot it i cannot wipe the smile off my face :)

I have found the smoke a problem, i find using Millers Diesel sport with a double shot each tank has decreased the amount of smoke. But im willing to let it smoke with that sort of power... :)

Hope this helps you make up your mind about the remap!

Mark

Tried to pm you jason but says you cant recieve any more messages emoticon-0124-worried.gif so pm me your number or something and we will arrange a time for pics if thats ok

Spoke to Star not very helpfull

i think i'll go to jabba or richard washbrook :)

I'm well shocked Star weren't helpfull... :wait: no I'm not... :| I believe my hybrid Ibiza has a Richard Washbrook map on it, drives real nice

I'd be happy with those figures, it'll no doubt be smoking less and the torque curve should be nice and smooth!

If you re-remap it, chances are it will smoke and probably blow up! It sounds like a good safe map for the turbo/clutch etc
