New tyres

Featured Replies

I have standard alloys on my Fabia VRS and I am looking to replace my front tyres. After reading a few reviews on here and other sites Rainsports 2 seems to be the best tyre. I am just checking that these are the right size and will fit.

Sounds about right price?

Thanks

Apparently rainsport 2's are good. They are the right size and will fit. The price there doesn't include fitting - Blackcircles is about 86 all in.

I was thinking a mobile tyre fitter could fit them. Blackcircles? Where they based? Will they come and fit them?

Yes that's the right size. You will have to add about £12 per wheel for fitting, tyre disposal, valve. Does it sound like a good price now?

Black Circles show an all inclusive price and fitted close to you. There is a discount code floating around on Briskoda but I can't find it, 10% I think. Have you tried your local tyre shop? a bit of negotiation sometimes works.

Ive tried all local tyre shops and none seem to be close to the price that the online shops work out at. Thanks for the new site saved me a couple more quid.

Will have to take a look at black circles and see if i can get a quote from them. I will have a look and see if the code for the discount is on here.

Thanks

Any significant difference between V and W?!

Any significant difference between V and W?!

It's the speed rating, about 20mph between the v & w. Not important to us.

I have Rainsport 2's on my car at the moment and they both keep deflating. I mean like 10psi in one week. I have taken them to 3 different tyre companies and they couldnt find any sort of puncture or reason to why they would deflate at such a rate. I don't drive like i have stolen it so would there be any reason for this to happen. This is why i am slightly dubious about buying another couple.

Thanks

If the tyres are deflating, you need to put the wheel/tyre in a bucket of water to see if you can see bubbles from air escaping - I'd assume it'd be either a dodgy valve, a poor seal against the rim or a slow puncture from an object in the tread.

To be honest, after my 50 mph blow out on a 2 month old rainsport 2, I won't be buying more when these wear out. Will either be some kuhmos or tr1's.

I find the grips pretty good, but not as good as the t1r's.... also the t1r's were quieter, and cornering at speed was much more clued in. They did wear out rather quick though!

i have taken them to 3 different garages who has put them in water and all of them couldnt find anything wrong. I was stood like a lemon over a bucket of water watching for bubbles for ages and everytime there is nothing. O dear that doesnt sound to good. I would go for the T1-Rs but like you said they don't seem to last as long and if i am paying quite a bit then i would want a bit of longevity.

will 215 40's be ok?

yes thats a par for the course kinda price on that tyre.

I got my uniroyals for £71 a corner fitted, balanced and old ones disposed of from a local tyre fitter. Called 2-3, all were cheaper than online!

I'd seriously recommend getting quotes from local fitters before you buy :)

As I understand it Fabia Vrs's are fitted with W's from the factory so W's need to go back on
