1st MOT_ reminder from DVLA?

Featured Replies

Car was collected from dealers 19th April 2007. However had nothing from the DVLA about getting an MOT done.

As previous cars were leased and all done through/by the lease co, should the DVLA send a reminder when it's due? Shouldnt I have had one by now?

Have you moved since? Despite telling the DVLA about my change of address for my license, the MOT reminder went to my old address.... I thought their departments would talk to one another.....

You dont get a reminder at all, get it mot'd 4 weeks before it was registered to allow for any potential warranty fixes. The MOT will expire 12 months after the car was registered.

I agree with Mannyo. You get a reminder for your tax, but not your MOT.

agreed, just got mine MOT'd for the 1st time (no probs on a fiat with 96k lol... ;) ) and there were no erminders, had the cabelt service done at 90k and the fiat garage stuck a sticker on the windscreen with next service date (or time) and MOT date on... I knew it was sometme in april just not exactly when until the sticker was put on... it also says on your tax reminder though when first MOT due.....

why would you get a reminder? MOTs are not even administered by the DVLA. If you are now driving a car over 3 years old without a valid MOT not only is in not legal but you are probably not insured. The only journey you can legally do is to a PRE-BOOKED MOT apointmment.

All MOT'd and sorted.

I think that should read 36 months after the car was first registerd.

Yeah the whole no MOT reminder is a pain, I ran over mine by 2 weeks without realising, it was only when having a conversation with a friend when he asked how long have I had the car, at this point it was about a year. Then I thought **** my MOT, checked it to find i was just over a week late, was very lucky!
