Delivery: Skoda Superb Combi 3.6 V6

Featured Replies

Just wanted to share with you that I received my brand new V6 Superb Combi today. Glistening in the intense spring sunshine in Stockholm I was able to see every detail: Cappuccino Beige, Ivory leather interior, Sunroof, Nav, the works! It really is breathtakingly beautiful and huge!! Very quiet on the road despite the large glass roof. Bluetooth connection worked seamlessly with my Iphone 3G. I haven't yet worked up the courage to rev it hard, but will do so in the near future :p

I will try taking a good set of pics soon so I can upload on this thread. In the meantime, please refer to the press photos 'cos that's how good it looks in real life!

Good luck to you! I hope you enjoy your car. I should be getting my V6 estate in about 4 weeks time.6.gif

Hi again,

Here's an update, though still no pics. Firstly the mileage is surprisingly good. I've driven roughly 150 kms now since delivery and obtained about 9.5 l/100 km (~30 mpg) in varying conditions (inner city, A roads and motorway). Of course I've been rather careful not to rev too hard as the engine is so new, but on the odd occasion when the temptation was too great I really enjoyed the torque in the engine. Feels powerful as you'd expect and so quiet! Rear vision is a little impaired, so the large side mirrors are necessary as well as park assist. One question though: how do you reset the mileage counter? I like to reset to 0 after refuelling. That's all for now. Will try getting some pics up tomorrow!

Err, try pressing the reset button?

On my Superb, it's button 7:

Agree with Ray - Trip the MFD by pressing and holding scroll wheel on right side...

I think it will be sooner than that! You shall be hearing from me in a few days hopefully with some good news.

I wish the dealers here up north shared your enthusiasm with the customers James.

Thank you James, I did get your voicemail eventually! 7.gif

Thanks for the tip, and I've pressed button 7 several times, but the MFD still shows the same mileage on left and right side (trip). What next?

Press and hold the button for a second or two (ignition on).

Thanks! I suppose I was a little impatient while pressing :p

Again I have to say: what a brilliant car! I've driven 5-series touring (530d and 525d) as well as the old E-class estate, but none of them combine the practicality and hi-tech functions with the powerful engine as they do in the V6 superb combi. The price just puts an even bigger smile on my face as I see those sorry looking 5-series GT drivers in traffic who have paid roughly TWICE as much for something only slightly more comfortable!

Here's a few more things I've worked with:

1) The park assist function is lovely, but you shouldn't be in a hurry as the system needs a couple of seconds to calibrate before you throw it into reverse.

2) Bluetooth and Iphone 3G works perfectly.

3) No rain sensors??!

4) Sound system (premium) not designed for heavy bass as you get the buzzing sound that some have complained about. Skoda really need to come clean on the matter!!! If it doesn't work, then offer something better or don't offer it at all!

5) I love the feel of the steering wheel, bit like driving an M-sport BMW or Audi s-line

6) Is it possible to tilt the headrest forward?? I find myself wanting to pull it forwards and not being comfortable when leaning back in the chair. (A problem I usually have to be honest).

Is the wiper stalk in the 1 up from bottom position, on the bottom position it is turned off

No, something I miss from the Octavia I had before this car[

Totally agree with the issue of the door s buzzing with the sound upgrade. To me it is the only fly in the ointment of a fabulous motor car. I have had mine for just over 6 months and the novelty has not even started to wear off yet. The V6 combi must be SERIOUSLY ADDICTVE !!!!.

Enjoy your new toy.

Thanks for the help with the windscreen wipers: the rain sensor does work indeed! I have also noted that the sunroof inside "cover" automatically closes after that the car has been parked a certain amount of time, not sure how long though. Also a word of WARNING to you V6 buyers out there: the car battery has been moved into the large storage cubby on the left hand side of the boot! This I find a rather annoying, although the dealer offered to compensate as he was also unaware of this modification.

Hi,

I have just ordered a Superb CR 170 TDi 4x4 Estate. After ordering I was told my iphone 3G would not work with the Columbus Sat Nav Radio. Interested to hear you have just received a new car and the iphone 3G works fine. Do you know if this is a recent upgrade or special preparation?

Thanks Mike

Hi & thanks for your reply -I suppose I will have to get another phone to use in the car. I cannot think of another way round it and I do not want to put another bluetooth system (e.g.Parrot) in the car. It's a pity you could not get a simple plug in adapter and not bother with bluetooth at all. The problem seems to be based on the type of connection GSM 2 or 3 that the system is based on. I do not fully understand this technical side!

I have the same (iPhone) issue with my Superb Elegance.

The bluetooth in the car is absolutely fantastic - the best quality calls I've ever had on a car phone. But....

Apple still haven't issued an update for rSAP (Remote Sim Access Protocol), perhaps on version 4?

I'm still having problems uploading clients addresses to the sat nav using the SD card. I had read that the version that has rSAP can accomodate large memory SDHC cards, but every time I try (4GB or 32GB) I get error messages. Have had to pop to Tesco to get a 2GB SD (not HC) card. Even then, I get error messages on the address transfer, whilst the MP3 tracks are copying across fine (right now in my car outside).

I've searched the links here and (I thought) followed the guidance, but without success. And I'm normally quite good with tech

I'm trying again

Just noticed (after re-reading several times) that the destination file should be all lower case (according to the VW Navi site)

Buring some extra tracks at the same time, as I believe there is a need for MP3 tracks to be on the SD card in order for it to be recognised

Now to let it save to the card, whilst I get a little sleep

The price just puts an even bigger smile on my face as I see those sorry looking 5-series GT drivers in traffic who have paid roughly TWICE as much for something only slightly more comfortable!

I don't even think they've comfort for consolation, not with BMW's preoccupation for runflat tyres and underdamped suspension! I think your Superb will be more comfortable any day of the week - enjoy it!

Cheers,

Steve

I wrote to Skoda customer services and here is their response.

Thank you for your email dated 25 May 2010, regarding the connectivity of mobile phones on Skoda Cars.

I have attached a document which shows you all those phones that are presently compatible with the Bluetooth system on our range

of Skoda Cars.

At present I can confirm that not all Blackberry's will pair up and none of the Iphones will pair. This issue has been brought

to the Factory's attention as we are obviously aware of the importance for hands free mobile connectivity.

We are now investigating a solution to resolving this particular issue and I would like to suggest that you keep in close

contact with your Retailer regarding any updates.

As you know, the mobile phone market is very fast moving: both software and a number of different Bluetooth technologies are

updated by the phone manufacturers continually. It is therefore not always possible to provide compatibility for all mobile

phone handsets.

We liaise with our supplier, on a regular basis to ensure they are aware of the requirements for mobile phone users in the UK. I

have made a note of your comments which will be helpful in providing up to date customer feedback regarding the use of mobile

phones with the latest Skoda models.

Bluetooth that won't support Blackberry's on an 'exec' car is a bit of a cockup, then again we wanted bluetooth ont he vRS we have just ordered for the wife, not possible unless you buy the DSG versions as it's done through the DSG equipped steering wheel, so you can't have bluetooth on a manual octy vRS!! Dealer was also astounded as first time they come accross it - result was discount of further £200 to cover cost of Parrot kit. If the Superb Bluetooth won't support my Blackberry Curve then we'll be doing the same again
