Audi Quattro 4WD to 2WD Conversion

Featured Replies

Hi all

I bought a nice 1.8t 20V for my MK2 Golf , It has a Quattro gearbox attached to it. I'm one on those stubborn individuals that like to try a challenge.

I was routing around with the Engine & Box eariler. I removed the Transfer Box allowing drive to the Rear Drive shaft.

Can i modify the box, and just have it driving 2WD, i.e, insert the Flange and close seal the box up ?

Anyone up for the challenge

Seriously though, ANY help would be very much appreciated lads

Tom

BTW

Engine : 1.8T 20v 180 BHP (ARY Code)

Gearbox: FMT Quattro

just buy a second hand 2wd box???

sell the quattro box

I have multiple ones available to me, with clutches and flywheels,

Thats not the point,

I wanted to know can it be done to this particular Quattro type box

whats the point ?????

Are you trying to send drive to the rear wheels only or something?

if FWD, then as above use an FWD box, or better still do the AWD bodywork :)

I am sure you can modify it, Jabbasport do this kind of thing when converting a 5 speed car to a 6 speed using the box from a 4WD TT.

No , i'd need a Haldex then !

Converting a 4WD Quattro to 2WD Front drive , I mentioned that i removed the transfer box allowing drive to the rear

Don't have a budget for Haldex, and Syncro Golf's are as rare as hens teeth and are still over my budget.
