Just a poll to try and workout how widespread the issue with the trip computer memory 2 resetting early is.

Mine resets at 99 hours and 59 minutes unless I reset it earlier, but it would appear that some people are getting resets at about 20 hours. This also appears to be more common on facelifted Octys, but I'm interested in what the spread is...

Cheers

Yeah mine appears to reset at far less than 99 now.

Think it is 20.

20 here (FL) which is really useless to me, ideally it would never reset.

1500 miles or 20 hrs.

Hi Raglits I think and I wait to be corrected here . ... I sat in and checked FL VRS with DSG and this unit goes to 99 hrs. Mine however is a manual gearbox which has a different dispaly and does 20 hrs or 1500 miles which ever comes first.

I checked all this at the dealer yesterday.

So it would seem FL VRS with DSG is fine goes to 99 hrs. But manual FL VRS do not.

I think.

Looks like it's not just the vRS, foo has a Scout and it's not working as expected either.... Maybe I should change the poll to cater for DSG/non DSG too...

I could do with a memory 3

I think you are right. DSG does make a difference to the display you have. All I know is I am bloody dissapointed with mine. And I also agree with you it's a complete kop out by Skoda.

I had to add Maxidot to a second VRS I ordered last week.(I am a fleet buyer)

I just need a memory full stop emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

 Mine is a FL Ocy Scout and resets at 20hrs or when town driving about 400mls or about once a month which is USELESS ! dealer checked with Skoda and changed the display and hey ho its still the same, even though the manual says 99.99hrs or 1999.99hrs which my last Ocy did. It must be a software problem (can ross tech sort it ?) cheers - Stuart. B) ps - Std display no maxidot !

Confirmed - it's not just the VRS, but presumably all models.

Mine is a manual FL (non-maxidot) and I just confirmed today that it reset at 20 hours - I watched it tick over from 19:59h to 00:00h.

Given my driving patterns, 20 hours will always occur before 1500 miles -usually around 600 miles for me - so it typically resets at around one tank of fuel as I get ~600 miles per tank. Today it reset as I was on my way to fill up, and it did the same last month, so I can't even get the average mpg over a single tank. Makes it kind of pointless IMHO.

Mine is sitting at 39 hrs 52 mins (1342 miles), and did a trip to France covering 2000 miles without resetting.

It is a manual FL VRS (Jan 2010),

....but it has maxidot (which might explain why DSG cars don't reset at 20hrs, if they have maxidot).

Probably should have added that I dont have maxidot.

Even my dad's Pre FL Mk2 Non maxidot can manage more than 20 hours.

As someone said above, can this be coded out in Vagcom...

They tried on mine to code it via Vag Com (10 plate FL VRS CR) without success.

Bugger :( That's a shame

Have now had my Scout (with maxidot) for 3 weeks & memory 2 currently on 28hrs & 900 miles so seem to have got past the 20 hr reset hurdle; will wait to see if it keeps going up to 99hrs.

Looks like you need to add Maxidot into the equation. To date no DSG equipped cars (Maxidot standard) have had a premature reset.

Neither has my FL vRS manual with Maxidot.

Maybe I should have held out for Maxidot after all.

Or, I think I might need to be speaking to Ben @ Shark ;)

Guess this means we can add to the list of what Maxidot brings for the extra 130 notes  :wonder:

I think my brother's DSG + maxidot has the problem  . I'll double check this weekend.

Sarge.

That would throw a spanner in the workings of our current theory!

Naah, we'll use some statistical tools to get rid of that one emoticon-0140-rofl.gif We'll top and tail the results, remove one from each end of the spectrum just to show what we want it to show emoticon-0144-nod.gif

You're right though, as almost everyone with Maxidot seems to have a functioning memory 2, but it looks like even that's not a certainty....

I have a new facelift TSI Scout (no DSG) and I've just driven more than 20 hours now without the reset. I have maxidot. Looks very much like maxidot makes the difference.

Dragging up an old thread. Mine has reset 3 times in 1 week.

1st time: approx 10hours

2nd time: 2 hours

3rd time: under 1 hour

1.6TDI with Maxidot

I have a 2010 Octavia Scout 2.0 TDI (PD engine, build week 20). It has the MFSW with maxidot as an optional extra.

Just passed the 20 hour mark yesterday, and it carried on without resetting - now showing about 22 hours on memory 2.

I'm happy!

Really dragging up and old thread!!!

I bought a 2nd hand 2009 FL Octavia Estate and my memory 2 is resetting early - looks like 500 miles is the trigger, not sure what number of hours it is resetting at.

I'll contact the dealer as the car is still under warranty, but does anyone know if this can be fixed?
