DVLA v5 Documents

Featured Replies

Hey,

I must of had my vRS for just over 3 weeks now. I sent off the new keeper supplement 1 day apart from my old car which I sold and the vRS. It's been almost 3 weeks now and not had anything through the post. How long do they normally take? I've tired calling their general enquires number, but having issues getting through.

Today I received a tax application form for my old car which is due at the end of the month.

It can take 4 to 5 weeks.

You can ignore the "new tax" application for the car you just sold; it's not your responsibility any more.

As to when you should get the new car's V5, yes it can take 4 or 5 weeks, but I got a SORN confirmation inside of 2. When you get the new V5, check everything you can!

My V5 arrived after just over a week in January when I bought the car, but when I moved in April it took 4 weeks to be returned... License came back a couple of days later. Guess it depends on how busy they are at the time...

I've waited 6 weeks before. Don't panic just yet!

OK great. Thanks for the advice :)

i bought my astra on 17th april got the v5 through yesterday, hope that helps as a guide of their current time scale!

Sent off the paperwork when I got my Octy on 8th April along with application for tax refund for the car I traded. Got a confirmation letter after about three weeks, and received new V5 and a cheque for £107.50 exactly four weeks after getting the Octy.

Thats not strictly true... If the log book gets 'lost' or 'delayed' in the post, then the DVLA dont receive it, and you are still liable...

Still a sore point ATM...

You can phone the DVLA and check to see if they have received it, and the new keeper has been recorded on the system though

Last time I sent a log book away, there were 2 in the same envelope. One for a change of address, and one for a new keeper. Change of address came back in a week, and 4 weeks later, still havnt received the acknowledgement (sp?) letter...
