Golf VII

Featured Replies

Golfs have been getting steadily worse since about Mark 4 from what I've seen. New floorpan and new styling might help things though - It'll be interesting to see because the same floorpan will pretty much certainly end up in the next Octy and Superb...

I really like that. I love the 80 MPG part!

Looks like a Golf - wonder if it sounds like one too :dull:

The mk5 golf, is streets ahead of the mk 4 as a drivers car ( thankfully as the octy is the same chassis! ) The mk4 was a truly awful golf, good engines and reliable, but awful to drive enthusiastically!

It must be the mark 3 to mark 4 change I'm thinking of... The Octy I was on the Mark 4 chassis? The Mark 5 got independent rear suspension to try and keep up with the precedent set by the Focus...

Mk I was good, MK II pretty good, MK III was far to fat for it's own good, MK IV was poor on the weight and handling, MK V is again good, so I'm sure we can see a trend.

All IMHO of course

Hmm VW Golf's

See here for confirmation of your thoughts

I agree with some of the posters in the autoexpress link - this is lazy design, the sort of thing that german marques have got away with for decades. A little nip here, an almost indecipherable tuck there, slow motion evolution instead of fresh innovation. Mercs, Beemers and most especially Porsches have been offering the same old aesthetic rope for decades.

Sorry, posted twice... haven't had my Weetabix yet. :giggle:

I don't think Golf V and VI are too bad....in fact I like them. I just can't see why I should pay 2000 Pounds more for less space....

Its just an auto express photoshop job. Dont take it seriously

Tell you what though, I'll give a tenner to the charity of your choice if the new Golf looks much different to these pictures! :)

Here's another little game for any of you guys and gals that have sons in or around school age. Google for pictures of Mercs, Beemers and Porsches of the 1970s, then do the same for non-German cars in those decades, say, Peugeots, Renaults, Fiats, Volvos, Datsuns, Mazdas - take your pick.

Remove any dead giveaways like badges, then mix and collate the pictures onto a printable sheet of paper and set your little lovelies the test of guessing what make of cars they are.

Any bets on which ones they get right?

Surely thats a Vauxhall Astra with a VW badge on. At least I hope that's what it is. Otherwise the Golf is dead.

Duller than a wet weekend in Filey. I think this is a pretty accurate representation, photoshop or not, so don't be too surprised - as stated before, German design is evolutionary, to put it nicely.
