New Superb minor queries

Featured Replies

Morning all

Had my Superb SE just over a week now. Best car I have ever driven I would say. Can anyone help on a few minor things.

1 In the MFD can I disable the gear change indicator and can I change the digital speed readout to MPH?

2 It mentions in the handbook ( i have read it you see ) about being able to alter the lights so I wouldn't need a beam converter to go abroad. Is that only on the Elegance?

3 The above mentioned gear change indicator seems a bit random. Sometimes it asks me to change up at 1500rpm, others at 2000rpm. Does it take into account my driving style or is it pre programmed?

Thanks for any help.

Phil

Hi Phil,

Only had my Elegance Estate 3 weeks, so like you, getting used to it all!

1. No to both - European Law say's MPH and KmPH need to be displayed, and the Superb has no KmPH on the clock...

2. I have an elegance, and you can defo do it - think it's only with the BiXenon adaptive lights

3. Think it's Controlled by a Sensor in gearbox / engine - something to do with gearbox and engine load.

Thanks for the reply Al. That's a bummer, means I've got to get those beam converters that confuse the hell outta me and leave a sticky mess over the glass that takes ages to clean off. Oh well, could be worse.

Hi Phil,

AFAIK the lights can only be changed for trips abroad on the Elegance.

I have not found any way of turning off the change up/down indicator, but I do find it varies according to the load on the car, how much pressure on the throttle, if driving on the flat or on incline, I tried to use it as a guide while driving the car at first, now I hardly look at it

I was able to change my secondary speed readout from a large KM/H display I had to scrol into, to a MPH constant readout on the lower section of the MFD on my Irish car, so maybe it will work in reverse for you? (cant quite remember how I did it right now tho)

Thanks for the info. I seem to have another problem. Driving home just now the car seems to judder at about 30-35 mpg. In 3rd or 4th gear if I take my foot off the throttle the car is not smooth at all. It only evens out if I accelerate again. Any thoughts?

My Elegance does indeed have the adaptive lights, a great feature which allowed me to drive across to the UK a few months back, and it also has the kmh/mph change feature, you can change the digital readout to read in either.

Regarding the variance in revs through gear change, the auto box 'adapts' to your driving style, if you drive moderately on one trip it will change gears lower down the rev range. If you take it out the next day and drive hard, it will adapt to the driving style and change gears higher up the range.
