No good in the UK without a new speedo. - Irish spec cars will be km/h now, or km/h predominant. would converting the odometer to miles just be a software change, or would they need to change the trip computer as well?

Could he not just buy the clocks out of his own one with 300 miles on them??

Would it be a simple swap or would they be calibrated differently?

Good result after such bad luck

well done Fella

I'd have gone for the yellow one. The other driver might have noticed it, maybe..if they were looking where they were going.

i believe yellow is an extra cost option so i' would have chosen the yellow one if it doesn't cost you anything and everything else is the same or better (mileage, age, unregistered, etc.

Really pleased you got it sorted Terry, and go for whatever colour you fancy, though if it was me I think I would go for a different colour not to tempt fate , at least yellow is highly visible

i recently ****ted my vRS

:( absolutely gutted.

it cost £5700 to fix according to the final estimate.

all fixed now though

:)

damage was very similar to yours, i guess my engine and chassis was fine though.

Had my 11month old Octavia L&K 1.8tsi hit from behind at what I think must have been approaching the 60mph limit last weekend. caused me to catch corner of car infront as I tried to get out of the way. Result total rear crunch and roof buckling etc. Result new shell needed with a bill in excess of £10000. And insurance is thinking about a repair instead of writting it off.Not too keen on that!!!

Only tip I would add is if they insist on repairing it you can nominate your own repairer, you do not have to use their repairer which they will push for, many of the approved repairers have agreements with the insurers forged to keep costs down, great in theory but corners get cut. If you want it totalled a second opinion may achieve that as another independant repairer might come up with a bigger figure. If they do insist on doing it go to the repairer before they start, explain you are the fussiest customer they have ever had, if theres a single problem, rattle or squeek its coming back & will keep coming back & they will be providing "equivalent or better" loan cars

I dont get why some peeps on here cant under stand why a car could be a total loss at 19mph. Getting hit by a van that could weigh at 1.5 tons and above from the side, will take out the front chassis leg like a bit of paper.
