If they don't offer you a Brand New car i would be straight to a Solicitor.

There is no way on this earth that your car would have lost that much value in 2 weeks.

Surprised that was written off but obviously cant see any structural damage etc.

Did they say the reason why?

Luckily we are a two car family and at the moment they have provided a hire car.... I'm off to China on Friday so will drop the hire car off at the airport. Then I have to decide if to order the same car again or to do something completely different. The insurance company should have a figure for me within the hour so fingers crossed it will be good. If it's a bad figure I have to consider legal option I guess.

Spoke to my local skoda dealer yesterday they said as of that time there was only 1 available in the UK... A yellow one.....

What's the feeling on yellow....

Terry

no no no no no and an extra no

Don't accept anything other than a new car to the Original Spec you bought or higher

White is a nice colour second only to Race Blue (cos i have a Race Blue :D)

Edit - while im at it can i have the floor mats :D :D

If you're brave enough, go for it. I think they look great and was really really close to ordering the yellow but my testicles aren't quite big enough... I eventually decided it was going to attract too much attention and as I do 25-30K a year I didn't need that much attention  :S

They do look bloody good though (in my opinion)

Best thing is though, at least everyone appears to be ok

Just had the phone call again; Insurance are going to pay the full cost of the vehicle.....

End of story hopefully.

Now just got to think of what to do!

Most but not all...Admiral and their group of insurance companies (Elephant etc) do not.

NFU will replace with a new cars in the first TWO years since date of first registration.

Just order a brand new White one. You may need to wait bit at least you get the car you originally purchased

I think a new white one is on the cards..... My stealer has confirmed they will lend my a car until delivery of the new VRS.

My insurance company (Admiral) were very proactive at working this case and brought it to close very quickly..... A nice job.... I'm as happy as what I can be right now.

Cheers everyone

Terry

Big thumbs up Terry - nice to be able to say something positive about an insurance company and to have a completly satisfactory result. emoticon-0148-yes.gif Really pleased for you emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Also goes to show what a crock of s*ite "Gap Insurance" really is...............

Glad that you are alright, and that you will geting a new car B)

A new car with that amount of work required would never be truely the same as new, plus the long term impact on resale value and potential problems that may pop up.

24 hours to completely resolve (albeit you now have to wait for a replacement car), that's got to be a record! I thought this thread would be dragging on for weeks!

Made up for you :)

Yes, that's what I was thinking - if I was a buyer I would think twice (or at least lower my offer) if I checked a cars history and found it had been in an accident. Incidentally Terry, what was the state of the van if that was what your front end looked like?!

PS, I really like the yellow, but personally would prefer blue or white I think if I had the choice...

If they write your car off and you are not happy with their final offer, then you can insist they replace the car with another car of equivalent age, mileage and condition.

Check your policy to see if you get a new car as some of the cheaper policies sold, don't offer this term.

How about getting one shipped over from here in Ireland?

There are at least 4 lying in showrooms right now around the country.

2 x Race Blue

1 X Red

1X Silver.

Doubt they would find a 2 week old vRS to replace it with :D

Sorry to hear your bad news you must be devastated but I am glad you are fine after all as much as we clearly all love our cars they are just lump of metal that can be replaced where as humans we aren't........... although my wife may dissagree :giggle:

But after reading this I didn't originally purchase GAP insurance as Skoda wanted £400 for it but I now have from ala.co.uk for £96.00 bit of a difference hey!

So in a weird distorted way thanks for this post it has given me a kick up the ass to buy GAP.

I have just had a look at that website, and could not get it that low.

I think Skoda GAP is about £300.00 and includes full car (inc extras) AND deposit.

As I can add it to the finance, this is what I have chosen to do. I hope I never have to use it, but we are posting in a thread of somebdoy who has had a car for only two weeks.

But elsewhere in this thread, it says you can get cars replaced if they are under two years old.

What's the point of £300 GAP when your insurance can cover it?

Excellent news

Just order a brand new White one. You may need to wait bit at least you get the car you originally purchased

dont forget that your neck is really sore, and you require some compo to splash out on mods :giggle: . but of course you wouldnt dream of that ;)

Doubt they would find a 2 week old vRS to replace it with :D

That is the point ;)

It's more effort that it's worth for them to do that, but if they say your car is only worth X, you can say, ok well you go get me one for that.

Watch the reaction you get when you say that.

Anyway, it's good to see that it seems to be well under control for the OP, so fingers crossed.

No good in the UK without a new speedo. - Irish spec cars will be km/h now, or km/h predominant. would converting the odometer to miles just be a software change, or would they need to change the trip computer as well?

Terry, Yes that's the infamous Stoke Crossroads. It's one location that definitely needs redlight cameras fitted.

Still, look at it this way, the cars written off, you're going to be a bit sore for a few weeks, but at the end of the day you're still here to tell the tale!

I bought GAP via Skoda and you can reduce cost as they get paid commision out of it too - paid about £200 for it. Nothing if you think about it over the cost of the car.

pleased too see you,ve got sorted mate, hope you havent to long a wait for the new one ,once its on order and go for the colour you want dont worry about driving white cars again thats in the past
