Towbar electrics

Featured Replies

Looking into the towbar electrics for the Octavia and just wanted some opinions.

Which dedicated electric kit is there for the Ocatvia?

Is it worth going for the Skoda kit at £192 or is it the same as something from an aftermarket manufacturer?

This is for a 2010 Estate. Any advice appreciated.

If you have factory towbar prep, the complimenting Skoda kit negates running any wires to the front of the car. The unit just connects just by n/s rear wheel arch but certainly doesn't feel like £192 worth of kit. Don't know about options if you don't have factory towbar prep, but 3rd party is probably the way to go.

Ado just been looking into this as well - are you getting it from winners?

if so they use a company from cheltenham to fit I called them direct and they use an aftermarket wiring loom westphalia offered it fitted for 600 spoke with an outfit from gloucester for the same kit it was 430 fitted - |I have seen the same kit on offer for about 300 parts only

The car did come from winners.

The recommended top fit in glos who quoted £430 with bypass relays. I opted for a dedicated kit and currently fitting it.

What are you towing ? if its a caravan you will need extra cables to power the fridge and charge the battery ! B) cheers - Stuart

I have twin electrics and a bypass kit on my car, with a Brink fixed towbar from Towequip £275 with fitting by Skoda indie, cut out is invisible so you can unbolt the bar and it cannot be seen if that bothers you.

Ordered the towbar prep and on delivery the workshop manager commented that an uprated cooling fan had been filled.
