Hay ross, trying to remove the alternator belt to replace it and the tenisioer, BLODDY hard job..........

Do you need a special tool for the tensioner to release its tension? or am I just being thick :D

Any help would be greatfull, as i have lots of blood on the wing of my car right now

Pete

Sorry 4got to say it is and octy Vrs

On the top of the tensioner there is a outward lug. A 16mm or 17mm spanner fits on that, you can then pull the tensioner over and lock it through two holes with a 3-4mm drill bit. If you cant lock it dont worry, just makes refitting it a bit easier.

cool, cheers ross, will try that

Can I just pick your brains again

When fitting the pollen filter, can you remove the black cowling from the bottom of the window or do i just force it up?? As this seems to be a right ****, my hands now have 3 plasters on lol  :D

Pete

Diy master lol, maybe not

They are tight, yes you can remove the scuttle panel but normally I just pull it up, hold it and slide the filter out. Be careful though when slotting the frame and new filter back in, the lugs that are on the bottom of the frame at the back must slot into the housing, if the fillter doesnt fit flush you will get water leaks.

cool cheers ross, godsend....

The alternator noise that i had was from the tensoner, it had a plastic wheel and the new one has a metal wheel, must have been an upgrade....

K look at it the other way...

You can put your feet up & drink beer, and let Ross answer all the Technical stuff

Big K is too modest tonight to mention his tip of using a hairdryer to warm the scuttle panel before trying to remove or bend it. This helps to reduce the risk of the plastic cracking.
