I was reading in Auto ecpress about the new C1 that is being built alongside the Pug 107 and was wondering what the point of the C2 is now there is this new car given that it is 3 door only and falls between the C1 and C3 in size.

Surely the 1007/C1 are proper city cars? The C2 is a "mini", C3 is "small", C4 is "small family", and C5 is a "travesty"...?

Rob.

I thought that the C2 was a city car (ie Ford Ka), C3 a supermini (ie Skoda Fabia), C4 a small family (ie VW Golf), C5 a family car ie (Skoda Octavia). So I agree with Rooboy, I cant see the point in a C1. However Citreon are like that, they have 2 5 seater MPVs the Picasso and the Berlingo.

The C2 has next to nothing in the way of luggage space so that more than anything makes it a city car (whatever one of them is) to me.

It is nice and roomy in the front but I wouldn't want to be sat behind me in one IYSWIM for any length of time as there is no rear legroom.

I expect the C1 will be for those on a very tight budget that still want a new car just like the Berlingo caters for people who want a new small MPV but don't have too much to spend.

Ford Ka isn't a city car! It's too big...

I choose option 4 - Pikeys car :D

now now Dave. This is serious (sort of) and is meant as an un-max power biased view. (Although you are sort of right in that view)

C1 looks like its sat on something, however looks very rock solid in its design.

C2 is a nice looking car IMHO (as is the C4) but its got a heritage - and its a bad one :(

C1 = Possible Smart target (maybe more lupo or VW Fox)

C2 = Ka/Corsa

C3 = Golf/Astra

C4 = Vectra/Octavia

C5 = Passat/Superb & Wasnt that a pedal car by Clive Sinclair? :)

I see a point to it, however wonder if the price reflects that point ?

The C5 was designed by Sir Clive, It was electric, with pedals to help get it up a hill.

And a damn sight more reliable than a Citroen ;)

This is a joint venture between Peugeot, Citroen and Toyota. Seen the pics of all and the Citroen is the best looker of the lot, but it is very small.

In a way it would be good if it were a joint venture between pug, citroen and toyota, but with pug and citroen not doing anything towards the car as its counterproductive if they do get involved.... bloody french cars :D

Oh dear, I cant believe that Toyota have jumped into bed with PSA..that won't do their reputation any good at all.

Look what's happened to the Nissan Micra, Renault running gear, and keeping the AA busy as a consequence according to my local Nissan dealership.

Nissan had no choice as they were going under.

The C1/107/Algo (or whatever it is called) are being built in the same factory, on different production lines in a small brand neww member of the EU famous for Beer, old buildings and one of the oldest car makers in the world (now part of VAG ;) ). So the Toyota version may well be better built than the French cars, although it will also depend on who is supplying the 1.0l & 1.4l engines that they will share.

Well if the Toyota version is as bad as the Pug and Citroen versions, there will be some good to come of it.

At least I'll have some work to do. :D
