Multi TOSLink to one input

Featured Replies

After a largely fruitless search on t'internet can anyone help me with this techno-crisis.

I have a single Optical Input (TOSLink) on my AV Amp, but will soon have two devices to plug-in. (PS2 and Sky+). So has anyone come across any 2 into 1 bits of hardware that would overcome this problem.

Oh! My amp does have a coax digital input but it's already in use.

Thanks in advance.

and whilst on the subject... as the same expert might know...

I have a 3.5mm digital output on my PC soundcard, is this the same standard as the coax digital input on my TV (ie do I just need a cable?) or is there some conversion?

I'm assuming the 3.5mm digital out on your PC is an optical source and the input on your TV is digital coaxial? In this case you can't just buy a lead and connect it, there is no conversion in-line from light (optical) to electrical (coaxial)...

You need an optical-coaxial converter. You can get them from a number of places on the web who deal in leads/interconnects etc. I'd expect to pay around

nope, it's not optical toslink..... as colin says....

Okey doke... just thought I'd check. :) Strange connection that...

a lot of computers have a digital out, spdif and its connected via a 3.5mm co-ax. not a problem for me as my mother board has a full size co-ax connection

You can have 1 optical to 2 devices, but not 2 devices into 1 optical with the thingy that neo posted.

it would probably get confused and screw up the signals into one frankenstein sound.

on my amp i have two inputs for the same mode(ie. DVD, TV, DVR/VCR), one co-ax and one optical. it actually works quite well, it uses the signal from sky normally but as soon as you turn the dvd player on it switch's input, works very well indeed

A bit left field here but your not using a Panasonic SAX-R15 amp are you. If so what do think of it? I've had bother with mine.
