Rant About Parking

Why do people not give a crap?

Both been taking it easy today just going round the shops. Last stop was on a retail park. Nicci parks up. We go off for about an hour come and find some numpty has parked a megane scenic next to us. Yeah ok that what happens in car parks but this one is parked so close neither of us can open the drivers door to get it in :( the scenics also on an angle so looks like it been driven in and left without striaghtening up. Next the owner comes out with his lad and a trolley of shopping. Doesn't appologise just says he'll move it now. So to my amazment he gets in the passenger side and climbs over. WTF. Why would you park so you have to climb over to the passenger side to get out?

So while he's doing this his wife comes out f'ing and blinding saying the shops **** and they need to take the shopping back as they don't take credit card. As you can guess a real classy family lol. Amazes me how the father and son got the food out before the mum had paid.

Anyway while she's going on the guy appears to be unable to start the car. :( he then opens the windows and saying we'll have to climb over from the passenger side as his car won't start. Still hasn't appologised. So I jump over, Nicci gets in and we drive off.

WTF do people think about in their heads? No idea what wouldof happened if Nicci was pregnant and I wasn't there.

Rant over.

It's ok. I think the fact that the car wouldn't start was his punishment for parking like a T*t!

I think basically it's a bit of a lack of driver ability and sheer lazyness!

Phil

Store wouldn't take CC = Card declined and we are out of credit.

More chlorine needed in the gene pool me thinks. Countries full of these idiots, absolutely no regard for other people.

Store wouldn't take CC = Card declined and we are out of credit.

Some stores ( Aldi/Nettoetc) don't take credit cards .

The problem I have is that I stupidly assume that the general public have a certain level of intelligence and can see what's in front of their bloody noses. As has been said in some great Hollywood blockbusters such as The Rock starring Sean Connery and Nicholas Cage "Assumption is the mother of all f@*k ups."

As I grow older, it is dawning on me that on the whole, people are pretty stupid. As long as they have their flat screen televisions, the latest mobile phone and believe that tomorrow will be the same as today, they're happy. They don't question their parking skills as it has no impact on them or if they can waddle to Asda to buy their multipacks of whatever they will shove down their necks later on the DFS sofa in front of the telly whilst fiddling with their mobile phone in the vain hope that their other chubby dimwitted friends will text them to say that they also are stuffing their faces whilst watching the same mind numbing tripe on Sky.

I sat in Sainsbury's car park yesterday watching people 'park' and shuffle off into the store. If they had jumped out of the cars and let them roll into the spaces from a distance of ten feet, they would have had the same degree of success. I'm with you faboka vrs in that once started on a rant, I find it hard to stop.

I'm off now to have a beer and read Retro Car magazine to calm down. :D

Lmao at your post. Love it. Reminded me alot of trainspotting. Quality film.

Choose life, choose a car, choose a supermarket, choose a ****ing big car park, choose the laziest place to dumb your car next to some poor ****** who gives a **** in life other than ****ing it away in front of the HD ready LCD with the lastest 2 for 1 on the cheapest large you can get your hands on.

:)

Lucky you were there or they would have just banged the door open into your car and squeezed their pie filled arses in. Denting yours not doubt and with their mutant offspring lovingly rubbing something sharp into your paint. "Jaw-den whaat the faaaak are yoo dooin, stoppit and drink yoo redbull."

Jon, Thats why I never park on retail parks. You can gaurantee some numpty will do just this.emoticon-0114-dull.gif

The beer helped last night and I have now calmed down.

I think general public should take a re-test every 5-10 yrs instead of spending stupid amounts to catch/aid/help idiot drivers...

But how can you stop people being selfish and lazy? A retest wouldn't fix this. It might help on the open road however when it comes to a car park I feel peoples attitude changes.

to take the car tests, then your c1, class c, b+e motorbikes etc etc, are drawn out and expensive enough let alone having retests!!!

If more people drive safer, or less dangerous drivers on the road. There will be less need for speed camera's, cctv, insurance increase etc etc.. In the long run it will be cheaper and people will consider twice before taking a test/retest. Less drivers on the road, better for traffic. More people understanding traffic and road conditions will make a better drive for everyone. So yes I do believe a retest every so often is going to help, even if it is for parking properly! Alternatively more stringent tests (like in Sweden) will also help :smirk:

I always try to park centrally in the box but, invariably, someone parks off centre in the next one then has to squeeze out of the door.

I think it's just a good indication of majority of peoples selfish attitudes. As long as they are ok and there life isn't interrupted they don't give a flying fook about anyone else.

I always try and park as far away as possible ( much to the wife's dismay :giggle: ) or near to the nicest cars as possible in vain hope I don't get some twonk next to me who bashes there door into mine or parks so close they scratch the car with there chavved up jeans as the squeeze past.

To be fair parking boxes are the same size the were when cars were 1 ft narrower.

The bays really all should be bigger.

that's why I don't mind parking in America :)

Yeah but everything in America is SUPERSIZE

Their parking bays need to be as well. Have you seen the size of some of the food containers you can get in WalMart you need to take the doors and roof off your car just to get them in the car

the rules -

Never park near the shop entrance, cash machines or on a corner

Park close to, but not next to, a trolly bay.

Park at the top of any slope

Never park next to -

  • A rough car
  • A car likely to be driven by the living dead (the elderly)
  • Anything with kiddy seats
  • A 4x4
  • Anything parked squint
  • A 3 door hatchback (you can never get the long doors open far enough)

Always park next to

  • A well polished car
  • A car worth more than double yours; as long as it doesn't conflict with the 'Never' rules

Sounds like you've covered most eventualities. :D

Normally end up parking in the next county :@

I've currently got two carpark dings. I know where they are from and how they happened. Both times I had to park where I wasn't happy with the space, but was forced into it. In four years I've only parked twice in a spot I knew was dodgy and both times the car got marked. If I get started on this, I'll never stop.. :swear:

Unfortunately this rule:-

A car worth more than double yours; as long as it doesn't conflict with the 'Never' rules

means that you will find anyone in a cheaper end small car, C1, IQ etc... will park next to any car worth 16k upwards. As mine falls into this >16k category I insist you revise said rule immediately

My first choice of parking spaces is the one at the end of the row , with the road between you and the store .Then park at least one door width away from the car in the next bay . ( even if you are over the white line of your bay ) And if jobsworth tickets you - file on the ground and ignore all further letters from the Robin Hood parking company sent to the owner - it's a civil matter with onus on store ,and the profit is not enough to spend any money ,apart from a few letter threats on .
