Spare wheel tools

Featured Replies

Hi all, took delivery of an 09 Brilliant metalic Silver, Skoda Octavia 1.9TDi Elegance today and I'm over the moon with it  One question I have is about the spare wheel tools. The car comes with a complete alloy spare with the container on top containing the tools such as the jack. What tools should be included in that container as there seems to be a lot of empty spaces in it :S

Any advice welcome :)

Don't worry, you've probably get everything you need - I think they just use a single polystyrene holder for many different vehicles so not all the holes are used. IIRC, I have the jack, wheel brace, locking wheel nut key, towing eye and a pair of plastic tweezers for removing the wheel nut covers (not sure if Elegance has those?)

Thanks for the reply, I think those bits are all there and at last I know what the tweezers are for, was worried that the last owner had really bushy eyebrows :giggle:

Check that your wheel brace fits your wheel nuts - mine was too small to fit!

pmc

And of course the only 'essential' item is the locking wheel nut key, so if that is there (and keep it there!) then you will be good...

I wish we had that here. All MY2010s sold in Aus now no longer come with locking wheel nuts :(

I didn't know about the tweezers. I didn't get any....................cheated of my tweezers!!!!

I think the little bent coil piece of wire with the "finger" is supposed to replace the tweezers . I think the tweezers were a much better idea !

Im sure I had tweezers before but couldnt remember, confirmed this when I tried to use the coil with finger thinking it might be for the job, it just scratched and scuffed the plastic caps, generally just chewed them up, they are just not strong enough, and was not easy to get them off. Possibly also damaging the inside lining of the holes of the alloy itself , (but will do it in an emergency) so I wouldnt try it. Ebay caps Ahoy!! for me :(

Damn you thieving tyre place!!

I've removed the plastic nut covers as the wire 'hook' can be difficult to remove plastic caps. Don't want to be on the side of the motorway wishing I had already taken them off.

I thought the metal hook was for taking wheel trims off or something like that.

I had the same issue with my L&K delivered in January this year. According to SUK the metal hook is for wheel trims, my dealer had to order the tweezers for me. Seems to be a common problem.

Yes it is - don't try and use it for taking wheel nut caps off or you'll scratch the wheels and probably break the caps! The hook is for all-in-one hub caps that cover all 5 wheel nuts and usually have a tiny in the front that you poke the hook into to pull it off.

I haven't got the wire hook either. My wheel nuts have not got caps.

Which tool is designed for removing the badged disc in the centre of the alloy wheel, that covers all 5 nuts? I've been using a screwdriver [wrapped with duct tape to protect the edge of the alloy]. It works but I don't like it.

Does anyone have the part number for the tweezers for the tool kit? Mine are missing and I would like a pair.

If nobody knows the part number, could someone take a look on their tweezers and see if there is a part number on them?

Much appreciated!

Mine are also missing. Can anyone post the part number?

My tweezers were missing as well. I use small long nose pliers which I keep in the boot, to get my wheel nut covers off

Been to the dealers, the information you need is,

Part Number, 8D0012244A - REMOVALTOOL

Hold on to your hats, they cost a massive 77p plus vat!
