Just replaced my 2001 1.9 tdi estate Fabia with an identical 2004 plate one. It has a strange humming noise from the front but only when settng off in first gear and in slight steering lock (mainly right hand lock). It makes no other noise at all and is intermittant. Once out of first you don't hear it any more. It seems to be from the nearside front area. I have cleaned and greased all the brakes so have ruled this out. Does anyone have any ideas what it might be?

PAS pump, check battery and PAS fluid level.

Have a look at the rubber bushes at the back of the wishbones and see if there is any play ! cheers - Stuart.,
