If it's on the BBC it must be true :)

I always use screen wash additive, so I'm OK. It might be a clue to why I suffered from so many weird flu-ey bugs when I used to be on the road every day. though.

Perfectly plausable and plenty of people complain about smelly washer water.

Basically what it means is don't be cheap and make sure you have some screenwash in there or if the vehicle is going to sit for a long time drain the water right down.

Almost every time the Mrs gets in the car, she gets a face full of washer fluid, so next time she moans, i'll cite this article!

Mine gets filled regulary, cus it gets used regulary....to spray cars behind me that are travelling too close.

Thick black soot and water, oh how I luv the Fabia. :D

Tonight I was channel surfing and caught the end of report on Channel 4 news about this subject.

I always use screen wash and would only use water in an emergency. However mine has never run out yet as it's got a low fluid warning light and bong. Last Bank holiday I nearly ran out whilst in Dover, but found a BP station with a dispenser (at water & air pump). I normally use the Halfords Double concentrated stuff.

Watch the price of screen wash sky rocket

Holts on offer at Costco this month, buy loads the price will only go up!

Am I the only one to remember a report a few years ago about peole getting sick from spending too long in air-conditioned cars and the risks associated with that? I think I'll just stay at home.

It makes sense when you think about it, a nice little pool of stagnant water, gently warmed by your engine.

I always use some additive so I'm not worried but I bet we'll start to see 'Antibacterial' and 'Kills Legionella' on the packaging. Even though all screenwash additives kill the bug already.

I was going to say, you'd think the alcohol in it would do that anyway ;)

Wonder if you'll see a new Dettol advert?

I'll have to tell the wife about this, then she will clean and steralise the car every week.

Was thinking more of some high priced article designed to sanitize the interior ,and sold "at any good XX STOCKIST ,asseen on tv "Pricesending on their stuff at £something.99.

Fortunately ,due to a design solution in my Fabia ,it needs screenwash ( at least 50%) or the pipes separate - could that be another selling point for them ?
