is that a forge one?

yea the forge one

time to get teh drill out methinks!

but srsly ring forge and b1tch @ em - maybe they sent ya teh rong one.

Looks like they have been welded on a pitch out either side, possibly just a genuine mistake with the welder sticking it on the wrong sides of a marked line

yea very annoying, gonna make new brackets what do ya think?

Looks trickier than just making a flat bit of bracket up. At least two of those mountings seem recessed. I think I'd growl for a bit and phone Forge when I calmed down a bit if that happened to me.

If you bought it from forge/a forge distributer then get it back to them, I'm sure it wont be any hassle getting it sorted.

If you got it through another route I'd be inclined to have the brackets ground off (Be careful though :giggle:) repositioned and tigged back on.

I bought it from a member off here, "I have a fabia fmic for sale all u need is the pipe work" oh yea cheers mate

I reckon your your car wasn't built right, surely not a Forge blunder. :giggle:

Ahh, I seen that, chances are it might be for another car then, probably the same core but needs different brackets, maybe a polo or seat.

If you dont have the tech I would maybe try and find your local fab and weld company, a job like that wont cost very much and will look better than a bodge, just make sure you get the measurments right :p

Thinkin about drillin new holes on the slam pannel

Its up to you, but TBH i'd do it properly instead of bodging it, there are proper holes with properly recessed areas, doing this you are just drilling holes in a perfectly good slam panel and introducing possible areas of future corrosion.

the intercooler looks just like that

I believe there are different designs of the forge fmic depending on how old it it... Older ones require the slam panel to be drilled and tapped or a long bolt through with a nut...

Edited by adray-m

just drill and tap it to m6

piece of pi55

Hi Ho Silver!!! How many threads will you get in a 0.5mm bit of pressing? The two existing screws that it is supposed to be secured by have captive nuts at the back?

nut and bolt it then!

if you can get to it!

or make up a braket

cant be hard

Its not hard to do it properly either.

If that were me, I would speak nicely with a good drink to an alloy fabricator/welder, Chop off & re-weld the incorrect bracket. 10 Mins work & sorted properly...

hey guys just to let you know went forge today to pick up my pipe work, ask them about moving the brackets they said no problem and it was cost £40 but they couldn't do it today, so living 2 hours away from the place i past, the intercooler is with a local metal fabricator as we speak hopefully it will be done on Monday figures crossed. i could drill holes and nut and bolt it but it would look gash, and with my car being my pride and joy just like everyone on here i want it to look good or it will do my head in lol

Good decision
