Fabia 1.4 16v EMS warning light

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm new here, so apologies in advance for any transgressions of etiquette etc.

We have just bought a 2000X Fabia that, this morning, has illuminated the EMS warning lamp; car drives OK. Guy I bought it from (dealer) is very helpful.

I can take it to a backstreet guy (he's OK) and have it reset or a main dealer - v. expensive & poor reputation! Any ideas as to what it may be, or is it so complicated it could be one of a zillion things? Is it a common problem? Should I go to the main dealer?

Have to say that I've had cars with EMS chips for yonks & never a problem.

Also, the (light blue) metallic paint seems very susceptible to chipping. Again, is this common/normal? Other VAG cars have been excellent.

And the driver's seat rocks back & forward about a quarter to half an inch; it's not the runners. Odd.

Otherwise, the car is mint. Having dropped a size from an Audi 80, I'm very impressed.

Over to you knowledgeable guys...

My seat rocks too, its down to the rise and fall, anyone know a fix????

A new seat base fixed my rocking.

No-one got any ideas about the EMS warning lamp, then?

Not sure re Skoda dealers - local one quoted min 2 hours labour to change the battery in the key fob!!! :-) Idiots; I remonstrated and told them just to change it and hang the consequences ("it'll uncode the key, Sir") & all was OK.

Heaven knows what they'll charge for an EMS check.

Pop off you airbox and have a look at the throttle valve, is there alot of oil in there?

Let me know.

Thanks, Ross, I'll look tomorrow.

Mind you, when I first read your reply, I saw "Pop off, you airbox....!" so nearly ignored you.

Cheers.

Should read 'your airbox'...lol

Now get on with it you windbag ;)
