Aston Martin Cygnet

RANT!!

I don't know if I am missing the point in this but why???? I was reading a artical on this today, The range starts from £30k and goes up to £50k for flagship versions. For this Aston is promising 113g/km CO2 emissions, 98hp and 90lb ft from its version of the 1.33-litre start-stop petrol engine that Toyota uses. A six-speed manual gearbox, 970kg kerbweight and sub-3 metre length complete the details.

So your paying up to 50k for a car that is basically a 1.3 IQ which costs 10k ish I know its fully customisable , I know its an aston but in todays times of cutting back this car is surly due to fail..............

if someone does have 50k burning in thier pocket why would you buy this............ surly anyone with this money will be after some sort of sport saloon they will need room, style and some poke.............a good 2nd hand Aston I have seen 03's for 32k then you get a v12 engine, plenty of room and a lovely looking car!

I just don't see who will splash this much cash on this surley if you want a town run about like the IQ is you will go for something reasonable priced and its not exactly pretty, it isn't fast, I don't think as Jeremy its a "cool" car, I doubt insurance will be cheap, yeah you might get a few wags turning up to a party in this but I just don't see why maybe its a few years too late!

Maybe am just a tight git but thats just my view

It is to do with CO2 Emissions, All manufactures have to get there co2 below an average amount for there whole range,

So by using the "IQ" they are hoping to sell lots, so there overall co2 will come down across the amount of cars they sell.

ie Sell one Vantage with high co2 and 2 Cygnets with low co2, there co2 footprint for 3 cars sold is low.

Hope that makes some sort of sense.

ah thats cleaver damn regulations!

wonder if other companys do same and if thats case then looking forward to lambo based on a ka lol!

I thought these were only on sale to existing Aston owners, or an option for new 'big Aston' owners. AFAIK they're not for sale to the general hoi poloi.

It's true that they're only in existence due to CO2 regs though.

Cute baby Aston for the trophy wife.

Basically you are buying an IQ and paying a huge premim for an Aston badge on the bonnet. On TG they mentioned, if you put a badge on anything, you can charge what you want, from bikes to perfume/after-shave .

Yhe only small caar I am waiting for is Gorden Murry designed T25, which is his version of the Smart, 2 seeter. It is not a copy (like the Aston) but a totally re-designed car which is said to be a hell of a lot better. He is making one with a 600cc 3 sylinder engine and an electric one. http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/250672/
