I feel sick!

Featured Replies

After asking various questions regards my Fabia VRs going into limp home mode over the last few weeks. I was getting a 17965 Positve boost deviation DTC. Well after checking boost pipes and vacuum pipes for leaks, replaced the MAF sensor, wiggled the turbo actuator, etc etc all to no avail, I decided to book it into R-Tec in Hinckley as I couldn't work out what the problem was.

Well got in it tonight to drive back from my father-in-laws and the turbo is now making a horrendous screaching sound(rather than the previous police car siren sound). No boost, totally gutless. Sounds like the bearings are shot! I'll take the exhaust side off and see if it feels notchy or loose when I get a chance, but I'm pretty sure it's dead!

So, my next question is, where's a good place to get a standard replacement turbo from??? And how much am I likely to have to fork out!??? Only had the car for since January, bought it from ALS skoda in Ely, chose a dealer as I thought it would offer a bit more peace of mind. Car came with a 3 month warranty which has obviously ran out. It had supposedly had a replacement Turbo at 45000 miles, it's now on 65800! Surely it should last longer than that!!!! Sorry for having a rant, but I bought this car to replace an ageing rusty MX5, so far this has given me more headaches in 6 months than the MX5 did in over 10 years!!!! :'(

Cheers for any advice folks!!!!

That's a bit pants! If if had a replacement turbo, how/where was it fitted and was it an OEM part. IIRC OEM part carry a two year warranty. Sure somebody will correct me on this if it's not the case.

yeah the turbo SHOULD have a warranty IF its oem. Get it back to them and find out what the options are.............
