Variable Servicing

Skoda UK told me the average is 21 months or 28000 miles - but I guess it depends on your driving style and type of roads.

28000 miles is over the 20000 mileage limit for petrol engined cars. There must be an awful lot of diesels reaching the 30000 mileage limit to give an average of 28000 miles for the Octavia - or were Skoda UK giving an average for all models on variable servicing? And yes, the oil is that good - but Castrol 0W-30 SLX 2 Longlife does cost

My Octavia TDi is at 22k and still going strong on its original oil. I invested in a 4 litre pack from Halfords as Denis recommended when I had my oil level scare, but it hasn't needed much topping up since.

My mileage is mostly motorway/A-road, so I would expect the service interval to stretch out a bit, but I will be interested to see when the 1000 mile warning pops up.

Howard

Mine is used mostly in town , it gave its 1000 miles to service warning at 13300 miles and 22 months of use , motorway cars will hit the milage limit rather than the time limit IMO.

Mine was about 18k miles, mostly motorway. That was July last year.

Thank you for your help, I am amazed that a car can cope for that many miles without a service, I had a double take at the schedule when I saw it said 2005. I shall see how I do.

Mine was 18k.

The oil is good, I change it every 10 and even with the (ab)use mine gets the oil level remains constant and doesn't turn to sludge
