Hi Tony.

"tpi" ? - was that a mistype or do I just not understand?

If you meant tip - then perhaps you missed the link to the fitting instructions etc = LINK

Hope this is what you are looking for and that it helps

No Tony, i meant tpi, it's the technical product information that dealers get , it's the info what tells them what to do , I'm trying to get paint repaired under warranty without much success, I'm thinking of getting rid of the car now to be honest , just disappointed with skodas attitude, makes the brand look bad when the car is really good :-(

Sorry Tony, I stand corrected and enlightened.

I have read much on here, (Briskoda), of the different attitudes and competence of various dealers. It sounds like yours are not living up to expectations! Others have had the stone chipping resprayed with no problems whatsoever. I can only say that the dealer that I have dealt with (Robinson's Skoda, Norwich) have been particularly helpful in my dealings with them. I took delivery of "Tigger" in September before the Foils became a standard fit to all Yeti's and the free fitting to all owners that were experiencing problems. Mainly owners of Solid colours, so it seems.

I had no chipping (Brilliant Silver Metallic), but had read the threads here about the problem and decided to be pro-active and fit the foils myself. The dealership staff went to pains to explain the fitting and even printed off the Skoda fitting instructions for me. The staff are knowledgeable and very helpful, they seem to encourage customers to use their first names, are always eager to talk, answer questions and help if they can. Incidentally, the name of these instructions (Soapy water - The key to protecting Yetis") implies that the fitting of the foils is the answer to a problem. Which of course they have now acknowledged and are redressing. Using the instructions and the comments etc from Robinson's, I completed the fitting in well under half an hour. No bubbles- perfect!! just like the factory fitted version.

If you continue not to receive the satisfaction you are rightly entitled to, I suggest you write a firm letter to the MD of your dealership, expressing your dissatisfaction and detailing your issues and asking is this the way he expects his customers to be treated and what does he propose to do about it! Copy the letter to the Managing Director of Skoda UK. ask him also, is this the way he expects his customers to be treated by what are, his representatives (the dealer).

I have telephoned Skoda "Technical" twice regarding some technical questions, and have been given answers quickly by helpful staff. Others on here report delays in answering emails etc so perhaps a quick phone call might help.

I do hope you gain the satisfaction you have a right to expect. Keep at it buddy and sort the Bu@@ers out!

Then sit back and enjoy a truly inspirational vehicle...........My best wishes for a happy and quick outcome......................................Tony

I second all the above: even if you feel like giving up on them, demand your rights, make life uncomfortable and get your own car sorted out (and hopefully the dealer's attitude towards future customers). I know it's very British to shrug your shoulders and walk away but in recent years I have become much more willing to complain (where justified) and have more often than not been surprised (pleasantly) by the outcomes.

Still not sorted , taking to a second dealer now, mitchells in Chester , phoned them up they said yes it's quite common, bring it down we will take some pictures and get it sorted for you . Brilliant :)

Thought I'd give my monster a treat and clay bar clean the whole thing....it works so well I was gobsmacked. Downside was that it highlighted rust on all the doors (including the front doors, really really depressing that). The rear doors are the worst but I have rust blistering on other doors too. It didn't really show up until I clay barred the vehicle.

Took it to the dealer today...optimistic about getter the rear doors fixed but they are saying the other ones are from stone chips! I've polished this car and thought I was looking after it...I'm not convinced about the stone chip theory as it looks like it has blistered from behind the paint.

Be warned when you pick up your new monster be sure to really check the paint work. I've seen comments about the sparks (caused by brake linings) from the delivery trains to the port embedding through the protective plastic and affecting the paint.

anyway monster currently in dealers will update when I get a call from them .....still feeling miffed though as car is only 1 year old :(

I have a Yeti 1.2TSi with mud flaps from new. Car is 2 yrs old and has 30000 miles.

The wheel arches are not just chipped, they are rusting and the paint is bubbling.

I think all Yeti owners would agree with me, this is far from acceptable. Stone chips from general use (i.e on the bonnet) can be tolerated, but stone chips that hence rust, caused by the vehicle itself (i.e. front wheels flinging up stones and thus cannot be avoided) - that is clearly a warranty claim and I am confident a case could be won legally if required.

I've also noticed that there is paint bubbling on the rear boot around the reg plate, so I am suspicious that the paint process (certainly on my car) was substandard.

I'm approaching my dealer in the first instance and will let you all know the outcome.

That's no good!

Anyway, I think most owners (including myself - done very recently) were able to get Skoda to respray the rear door and fit the protective film.

My local dealer had no problems going through the claim for me and got it sorted very soon.

I would be surprise that Skoda would reject the claim on the rear doors, no sure about the reg plate though (potentially the dealer didn't screw plate using the pre-install holes, but actually to the bodywork - check Octavia forum for details).

Yes, garage has come back to me saying that there is a recognised problem and to fix it will be to respray the rear arches and lowers sills and fit the protective tape.

However, there remains doubts about the paint on my car as there are small 'bubble' zones on the rear tail gate and doors which do not have any stone chips related to them. Skoda are getting back to me....

Hi, Im off the Superb2 forum but looked this up as my Dad is a manager at a crash repair car body shop and was telling me that they have had numerous Yeti's in lately with this exact problem, they, under warranty, are being paid by Skoda to respraying all the affected areas and then fitting the rough pack clear film as standard. Bit surprised when me told me off this but at least Skoda are sorting the problem.

I bought my Yeti in June 2012, it is a 10 plate and has the rear door chipping. Is it too late to get Skoda to deal with it under warranty?

I think that the only way to find out is to take to a Skoda dealer and ask.

Fred
