New Mk2 Fabia VRS HAS ARRIVED TODAY!

Featured Replies

No, Practicality is under Comfort section.

How many seats does it have in the Rear?

oh yeh practically (missed that bit) - never was a big fan of that :D

Common sense would tell ya that you cant fit 5 people in the back of a fabia :D

As for saying its faster then a cilo rs 200 well well that is just pure bs :D:giggle:

looks like it drove into halfords IMO. should have looked more like the rally version.

only thing i like is the interior,

is it the fact they say it has more pulling power then a clio rs200 (200bhp ofc) and a Vauxhall Corsa VXR (189bhp) when the fabia has 180. :giggle:

They were clearly referring to torque, not raw bhp, though (in which case the Fabia is 20Nm ahead of the Vauxhall, and dunno about the Clio).

Maybe this should be referred to here as Marmite vRS, this really appears to be a love it / hate it car

I remember picking SWMBO up from the station once in a mk2 Fabia courtesy car. She said with huge disdain as she got in, "What's this? It looks like some sort of 2nd world war ambulance thing."

Now, she doesn't know a lot about cars my mrs, but she had a good point there.

They may well have been but its still a bit decieving imo. A cilo rs 200 would leave the fabia for dead I recon - even more so when they hit a corner...

All speculation ofc as I havednt driven either :giggle:

Looking at the back of Evo mag the figures are as follows:

Clio 200 Cup (197 BHP) 159 lbft (215 Nm)

Fabia II vRS (178 BHP) 184 lbft (250 Nm)

Corsa VXR (189 BHP) 192 lbft (260 Nm)

Of course the Original vRS according to Skoda has 130 BHP and 229 lbft (310 Nm).

The Clio has a 2.0 N/A petrol and the Corsa a 1.6 Turbo.

"Pulling power is better than the majority of its rivals as the Fabia vRS has 250Nm between 2,000 and 4,500 revs."

Pretty unambiguous. They also make it clear that if it's handling you're after then go for the Clio.

Mind you, Parker's talk nonsense most of the time - just read their review of the Mk 1 vRS - says it's best in town but that most of the power comes mid-range??!! Also, their used car pricing is wildly inaccurate.

he interior would look even nicer if you specced Climate - those manual knobs spoil the look for me.

I agree the red one above I test drove had climate control and it did look much better :)

I concur. mk1 looks pants too though...

what part exactly of the mk1 looks pants?

Big chin, fat bum, 1980's esq dashboard.....

It's all subjective however and personal tastes will vary. I quite like the Mk 1 but I can see what some people say

ah sorry, i thought we were refferring to my mk1 specifically

Am I the only one that is shocked by the fact that it is £16,000!!!!

It takes it into a different market place from the Mk1.

Well again, I think that's down to what your after really if you look at the polo gti or the seat Ibiza cupra then the price is actully quite reasonable it's actually £15,700 lol :p

When I was down looking at one they said they would do it for £14,900 and give me £6500 for my 56-plate mk1 vrs with 55k on it! So I don't think that's a bad deal really! :) the main reason I'm not doing the deal is because I need to buy a house before a new car lol!

Dave

Thats not so bad , £800 discount without even asking! I thought these things were going to be in short supply?

hmmm had a look at one in donney skoda other day inside is really nice but dont rekon much to the outside plus torques to low and they have done nowt wi suspension its too long and thin not to have done ought with it

I think they are trying to appeal to those who have not considered Skoda before. The styling is nothing like what has gone before and as mentioned, it looks like a Swift. Speaking for myself, I like slightly chunky/angular styling and to my eyes the Mk1 Fabia still looks one of the smartest small cars on the road - even today. The new car is not for me, but it will make quite a few look at Skoda in a new way as it is a new type of style for the Skoda brand.

I don't think it is a replacement for the Mk1 vRS - but a completely different car bearing the same name (like the Octavia of the 60's and the Octavia of the 00's). The fact that there was a gap between the two models tells me this.

I had one come through the door yesterday

I would think that Skoda would have made an effort to post a letter to existing owners saying 'Bring your old vRS down to your local garage and view/test drive the new one' if the new model replaced the old. Could have had a special offer inside...

  • 5 weeks later...

Hello All.. Been dying to tell everyone bout my new Mk2 Fab vRS, Had it for 3 weeks now and its great. I was sorry to see my3 year old Mk1 VRS go and was a bit apprehensive.

Excellent car, if a bit expensive. Wife gets 48 to the gallon, but my right foot gets her down to 28 - 30 and thats in sport mode which is'nt to bad for petrol as it is a lot quicker than the 130bhp diesel.

OK looks a bit standard, but the green with black roof and chrome wheels turn a few heads.

Gear change is a dream, comfortable ride but corners well. Had all the bits on so came it at £17,500. as I say a lot of coin but got a good price for the old.

Go on try one. !!

That says it all and demonstrates the reason I won't be buying one... Unfortunately these days manufacturers are building cars to get good MPG figures in the standard test routines - BMW especially - and the real world figures just don't approach them anywhere close.

When I bought my first vRS I had a Freelander V6 doing 22mpg AVERAGE (16mpg was the lowest I recorded on a tank top-up). I really really wanted a Prius but with Autocar reporting only 42mpg on their long-termer and the 3 month waiting list, I went for the Fabia vRS instead - and got just over 50mpg. I'm not prepared to drop to 30-35 mpg with a new vRS...

My local skoda dealer has a mk2 vrs for £13000, its only 2 months old... not sure if its a demonstrator but looks ok in white...

Saying that im sticking with my diesel for a few more years yet.

Have you been to the new FABIA MICROSITE - the "Apartment" option is a bit weird...

WTF is that all about pmsl

I like them but wish they'd put the vag 2.0 diesel lump in it! then i might be interested, they wont.
