Featured Replies

Am I gonna have to go look for specs or does anyone else know off hand?

- Engine size and fuel

- BHP

- Standard spec, what toys does this thing come with that the Mk1 didn't

- Finish, we talking the two tone fabric like the Mk1 or is it leather as standard now

- Price

- 1.4 TSI (superchaged & turbocharged) petrol - 98 RON fuel required.

- 180bhp 7 speed DSG gearbox

- maxidot, aircon, paddle-shift steering wheel, MP3 compatible stereo (8 speakers), spare wheel.

- fabric as standard.

- £15700

As for economy.. I think in the real world, it may get 40mpg driven normally, less than 30 if you're booting it. You probably can get to 45, but it won't be easy.

The car looks better in the metal than in the pictures. Seats are all black cloth with a pattern on the centres.

No..Wherever did you get this from???

It's been a commonly-held mis-conception. The police did go through a phase of pulling people over who didn't have it on their plate a while ago (or who'd obscured the blue EU tab with a St George's cross).

Too small and too ugly for me. Shame Skoda uglified the Octavia with the latest facelift as well. Are their latest designs all done by people wearing blindfolds?

I think they are trying to appeal to those who have not considered Skoda before. The styling is nothing like what has gone before and as mentioned, it looks like a Swift. Speaking for myself, I like slightly chunky/angular styling and to my eyes the Mk1 Fabia still looks one of the smartest small cars on the road - even today. The new car is not for me, but it will make quite a few look at Skoda in a new way as it is a new type of style for the Skoda brand.

I don't think it is a replacement for the Mk1 vRS - but a completely different car bearing the same name (like the Octavia of the 60's and the Octavia of the 00's). The fact that there was a gap between the two models tells me this.

I would think that Skoda would have made an effort to post a letter to existing owners saying 'Bring your old vRS down to your local garage and view/test drive the new one' if the new model replaced the old. Could have had a special offer inside...

?????????? you have a Fabia currently so how is it too small for you ??????????????????/

Which is why I've just traded my Fabia for a Mazda6...

Fair enough but still says Fabia below your name

The deal is done, but the exchange isn't taking place until September. I figured that I might as well wait for the new plates. I don't think I'll die of claustrophobia before then....

- TSI, like the one that started appearing in the Golf TSI a year or so ago? Can't remember if they were oil burners or not though?

- 7 speed, seems to be the usual case for these DSG boxes to have an extra gear, shorter shift ratios and more rev happy I assume, saying that 50more HP than the Mk1 one! I am wondering if these engines have as much overhead for modding? The whole TSI, Supercharger, Turbo Charger and a tiny engine seems to scream complex mechincal stuff that may already be close to it's limits.

- ohhh, meh, ahhh, would expect that, full size?

- All VRS'd up better yet in a colour that doesn't show even the slightest bit of dirt?

- Ok

- Ok

- yes, exactly the same engine, all are petrol.

- I think 7 speed is actually 1 too many TBH, but hey ho. These engines are no more mechanically complex than any other turbo engine, there is an ECU controlled magnetic coupling to switch between the supercharger and the turbo. The idea is to boost low and mid-range, so high revs are not required. They will remap to 210bhp at present, they will be well within limits at 180.

- I think the spare will be a space-saver, an owner can confirm.

- black seats this time, not the muck-magnet white. :)

I like the colour. Everything else about it looks wise is utterly vile. Too tall and thin, nasty grille, nasty arch gaps, nasty lights, crap wheels.... The black roof option would go quite a way to fooling the eye and making it look less ungainly.

I am awaiting the first estate :)

So many people saying it may grow on them...

hmmm defiantly not love at first site then.

If thats what vrs fans are saying then think what the general public will make of it!

Now i wonder what a mk 1 vrs looks like in that green colour......

need to see 1 in the flesh to get a proper opinion...would love to compare the boot size between the mark 1 and 2.

I had a drive in one on Sat morning and all I can say is it is fantastic, very fast! I would say overall much faster than the mk1, it puts the power down totally diffrent to the mk1! The dsg is so smooth and quick! The only down side is it does not look as mean as the mk1, I will put some pics up now inside and out :)

I concur. mk1 looks pants too though...

I was on the Skoda website and they're offering some good finance deals. I might have been tempted if I hadn't had my Mk 1 for less than a year and spent £400 refurbishing the wheels / buying new tyres.

It's a shame there's no manual gearbox option. It might be one to get two / three years down the line for me (let someone else take the hit on the depreciation  ) but out of warranty any problems with the gearbox could leave a large hole in the wallet.

Here are a few pictures i took, i drove the red one :D and loved it :D

Oh and what makes it better when you turn it on the dials swing all the way around like an aston lol :D

The interior is way better than the mk1. The headlights are too big, the grill need something doing to it, maybe painting the chrome black. The lower front of the car looks fantastic, but it's wierd that bit is very angular and the rest of the car is curvy.

have a look on parkers.co.uk new review of the drive and all the facts and figures up there or try.

I've just been reading that and it's a good report. Has anyone spotted the mistake in the Practicality section?

is it the fact they say it has more pulling power then a clio rs200 (200bhp ofc) and a Vauxhall Corsa VXR (189bhp) when the fabia has 180. :giggle:

No, Practicality is under Comfort section.

How many seats does it have in the Rear?

Practicality ****-

You can get five adults in the rear but make the journeys short for the person in the middle as this seat is quite cramped.

It's like the Skoda UK's Website showing the car having 3 pedals - for an automatic?
