Chav-proof coatings

Believe me I do like to drive fast, usually as fast as possible (which aint saying a lot eh? :D) without getting banned, and where it is safe to do so... I dont go looking for races, which quite often seems to be the case lately, maybe I'm just reading more into it than that, but it does seem like it sometimes.

Ah Seeeee where your coming from now. As the Fabia VRS becomes more known, more people think your out looking for a race, when in reality your commuting / going to the shops etc. Yeah, I think we all get that, and the more sporty looking the car the more you will get it I suppose.

I noticed it when I went from my first wee car (Rover Metro) to a not too sporty Citroen ZX. Seemed that people wanted to race, and I put it down to me having such a great :rubchin: car. I felt that way I think because my last car had been so bad and nobody took any notice of it - who would want to try and race a Metro (I would of had them anyway... :D)

I reckon its a bit of both - looking into it a bit much and folk thinking your up for a race. I suppose if someone sees you driving fast, they might get the desire to join in as well. I think it would be more annoying in something like an Impreza when every time you pull up at lights you get some idiot next to you in a soooped up Fiesta or Corsa wanting a race. If your not playing, and drive away gently, you just know there going to go and tell all their friends how they beat a car off the lights. I don't think the Fabia VRS has got that sort of reputation...not yet anyway.

Just curious as to peoples feelings of the pics posted in here http://www.briskoda.net/forums/t12690-crazy-prague-fabia-vrs-pics.html of the Fabia "WRC" (?) I can see it as a very tasty car on one level' date=' but then again, could be perceived as very "chavish"...

I'd say it reeks of chav, to be honest. That's appalling, every aspect of it.

Well Mr Happy thats your opinion and I am sure others will be behind you on that. I think it looks quite good :)

I'd say it in its current form with the lexus-style lights and carbon filler cap it looks chavvy, if it had standard rear lights and no stupid looking filler cap sticker thing then I would definitley drive it! Why do people feel the need to stick on carbon look filler caps anyway? They look unbelievably sh*te, and bear no resemblance to how racing fillers look whatsoever. Basically, I reckon if it looks overdone (extra neons, filler cap covers, carbon look door handles, neon aero wipers!?!)it is chavvy, but if it is done tastefully to look like a wrc replica/ race rep. ie. no extra stupid bits as mentioned, then it looks good. Take the stickers, the filler cap and the lexus rear lights off that Furby and it would be dead on!

I think you need to look further down the post. The picture at the top is taken of a "chavved up" Fabia WRC. And I agree with what you say. Look further down and look at the dealer ones, exactly as you say, lovely. Not to be ruined with stick on filler caps or meaningless stickers. And Lexus lights. Please.

Lexus lights used to look quite cool (about 5 years ago) but so many chav-mobiles have them that they now look a bit cr*p... I prefer the 05 Furby Mclaren SLR Style rear clusters... (tongue in cheek) ;)
