Buying a VRS this week

Featured Replies

Hi guys, im looking to buy a fabia vrs this week. ive found one that i want, but i just want some info if thats kool.

its a tdi pd 130 vrs

2004

89,000 miles

full service history and 1 owner

can you give me any information i need about these cars please.

are the turbo's ok at the high milleage, and would it need a cam belt change any time soon? etc

thanks Rob

Cambelt is 4 years or 60k so should have been changed. High mileage is not a problem and 89,000 isnt high mileage. Good luck!

ok thanks alot mate.

what would be considered high milleage for these cars?

Have you got an idea of how much i should be paying for this car

Going on the fact that i was looking at a vRS for ages and have found one recently i would say i would have paid around £4500-£4900ish for what you say is offer. Full service history always helps! Some vRS's on here are going towards 200k so high mileage isnt a problem iirc :)

with admiral?, bang your mum( :giggle: ) on the quote as a named driver should take it down a bit,

Really tho it does ? increase the excess that will bring it down too,

Your mum or a sister/girlfriend will bring the price down.

Higher excess makes it cheaper as said, just drive carefully! lol

I pay £380 FC and i'm 26 with 8 years NCB.

Be careful about increasing excesses, just make sure you can afford them - and some companies ask for a compulsory excess for under 25's as well as the voluntary excess - I know swiftcover do this, and I think most others do too.

Where you live is a really important factor as well, but putting an older female driver on as a named driver will really help. My mum has been on my car insurance since I started having my own, and she's probably driven my car once or twice!

If the turbo whooshes or whistles at high revs then that would be ok. Any rattles and banging not ok. Unfortunatley Turbos are a bit off a lottery it will be a bit of a gamble in that department. DMF's are a bit of a weak point if the car has been driven hard at lowspeeds and at low revs, you should be able to spot the weakness if the car accelerates with a lot of shaking/shuddering over 1700revs. If it does this under 1700revs then that would be normal. Generally high milers are no problem as long as they have been serviced correctly as yours seems to be. Hope got a "good un".

Hope your insurance is better than mine, I'm paying £2k for 3rd party fire and theft for a 1.4 8v fabia. Granted that is in N London and I'm a new driver, but I am 24 also! It's just ridiculous that I can be charged so much to insure my car!

Thats true. I saved about £500 by putting my parents on my policy. GF put it up by £50, which was a good enough excuse not to add her on :giggle:

I'm viewing this car in 20 minutes,What should I look out for???

Thanks rob

I've just got a quote from Elephant for £825 1 year NCB and i'm 22. The 10 month bonus accelerator is very good, which Admiral and Elephant do.

I went and viewed the car last night. It's the first time I've seen one up close and been in one, it was black, the interior was great.. I own a 1.4 Citroen saxo so it's a big step up In power and I was seriously impressed!! I wasn't insured so my dad had to test drive it for me. He loves it too.

I didn't end up buying as she wouldn't budge on price. Up for £4k and I offered £3800 and she would only take £3950. So walked away...

I'm sure there will be another

Hang on a minute, You were only £150 away from sealing the deal, thats crazy!!!!!!!!!!!! Black ones are worth an extra £150.
