Is this price ok?

Featured Replies

Hi

I am looking to abuy a fabia vrs and have found a 54 plate at a skoda dealer with fsh and 65000 miles. It has cruise control and the cd changer, and sombody has has the interior retrimmed in leather. It's also black which everyone seems to think is the best colour.

£5995 on the forcourt.

What does anyone think?

Sounds ok. I purchased a 54 plate vrs at 69000 miles 3 months ago. That also had the leather done, and cost me £5000 privately

Warranty?

Service history?

Condiotion of paint/Alloys?

How Does it drive?

Cam belt was due 5000 miles ago?

It has a full skoda service history. I have only just found it, but it looks ok in the pictures. Obviously I'll drive it as soon as possible. I was just checking it was a sensible price before I bother driving over there to see it at the weekend.

If you like it. it drives well, and can find a bit of history on it, thats a good price from a steeler, esp with leather + FSH

If the Cambelt has not been done, get them to do it before you buy it.

Thanks for the help. Yeh, I'd rather not use a dealer but my new job is a 70 mile daily commute away so I can't be without a car at any point. Need to px my old one. :-(

I'll test drive it Sunday then. If it's all square and the cambelt has been done I'll stick some pics up when(hopefully) I buy it.

See how close to £5500 you can get him, or push hard on your cars PX price.

If the cambelt hasnt been done it will cost you 300 - 600 to get done depending whether you get it done by Indy or dealer. If the dealer either wont change the belt before purchase, or knock roughly 400 off then walk away, there are a few around cheaper, slightly higher miles & the belt done.

The leather & cd make no difference to the driving experience ( as you prob well know having a clio 172 emoticon-0105-wink.gif )

And please remember!

Its tourque in the fabia not bhp.

So you are looking at the 30-70 time not the 0-60

Seems dear id be inclined to go private

I got mine with 60k 05 plate xenons cruise heatd seats and all you seen in my sig for 6500 :8

I would say that sounds like a good price from a dealer, Depending on the PX price, it maybe well worth doing. It comes with a few decent options and the leather re-trim would of cost around £500-700 on its own.

Providing the cambelt has been changes, cars in decent condition throughout it sounds like a decent price. You can always get any car cheaper!

Good luck with the buying mate.

It sounds like mine - traded in two days ago - which I've just checked is up for sale at £5,995. I'd better not say on forum what they gave me in part exchange... I bought it new and the leather retrim was done before delivery - documented on this website somewhere.

Warranty - that garage doesn't seem to do warranties - I didn't get one on the car I bought

Service History - full yearly inspection service every year/10,000 miles - I've given the garage all the receipts for both services and all other works - and the original purchase receipts - and all the old MOTs and tax discs.

Condition - it's a six year old car...

Cam Belt - done at about 45,000 miles at dealer's insistence - checking elsewhere suggests the limits are 60k OR 4 years whichever comes sooner. Mine was the 4 year period.

In 2004 I paid £1400 for the leather retrim - remember this was before Skoda offered the service. It was £1200 for the seats and £200 for the doorcards and was done by a furniture upholsterer in Gloucester.

Just thought I'd stick my advice up as I've just bought mine and been looking around recently...

I paid £4,700 privately for mine with 68500k on the clock - 54 plate, no leathers, but Sachs uprated clutch and dual-mass flywheel and a 'sensible' remap to around 160bhp...

Got it from a guy who works for TUK Customs in Northampton, so I know it's been well looked after :)

+ As I would've wanted to uprate the clutch/flywheel at some point, seemed like the best option... Now I can save money towards a leather re-trim...

The OP seems to have asked a question here but not checked back for responses - his profile shows a "last active" time of "Jul 30 2010 15:31". Hence he won't have seen my responses or the further info issued by PM. I wonder if he's still going to look at it today?

Thanks for all the information guys.

Went to look at the car and it was a credit to you :-)

Great condition and drove well. Actually felt better than the newer special edition i test drove last week. I am hopefully going to buy it this week finances and financing permitting. They wouldn't take my clio 172 as part exchange, but i can get about a 1000 more selling it privately anyway.

We have another convert :giggle:

Totally different to drive the my clio. They let me test drive it on my own as well, so i could give it some stick. Pulls like an absolute train, big grin factor :-) . Doesn't handle nearly as well as my clio, and isn't quite as quick, but for the more relaxing drive and fuel economy for my long commute I won't be complaining. Plus isn't this forum a good place for me to find out about thingslike a pd160 intake and remap for starters. Then maybe ARB and some bits from the ibiza cupra (not that i Have been doing my research) I'm sure I can tweak it a litle bit. As a standard car though I'm sure I'll be happy with it for ages.

Oh and thats just the short list of easy mods........ my one im currently sorting is the 312mm breaks from the Octy VRS/Mk5 GTI/TT will bolt straight on to replace those baby 288mm

Then theres RARB from Jabbasport

New Clutch

the Momo front strut brace from the Ibiza fits (Dealer part)

a few ppl like to change the alloys (Audi TT comps *drewls*) when looking at alloys just remember 5X100 and a rough ET45

Then theres Leon Cupra front splitter.

the possibilites are endless!

"As a standard car though I'm sure I'll be happy with it for ages." Yeh, right!!!! Should have a poll on how long it stays standard.

dibs on a month

Well I didn't do too much to my clio. It did get new ignition leads and spark plugs and a full service after about a week. Technically it came with the aftermarket exhaust. And it did get and induction kit and full set of coilovers.

Hmmmm second thoughts.

You might be right.

RARB = Must

Coilovers = mabie think about that one, cos a good set of springs and shocks work just aswell

I am now the owner. Deposit put down, finance in place :-)

Looks like you have another convert.

Thats good, May I introduce you to our tuning section :giggle:

I'll be interested to hear how you get on with the vrs. I currently mulling over trading my 182 in for one (if I can find a low mileage decent priced one in a dealer)

Oh, and hi, another newbie here.
