Lead Time

Featured Replies

I looked at ordering a Merc or BMW befor ordering a Superb!

Why is the Lead time so long?

May be they should up production?... almost feel like cancelling and ordering the Merc... 6 Weeks!! and not 4 Months?

VW have obviously underestimated demand!

Want mine now!!!!!!!!!!

Still contemplating the C Class Merc.... I Love the superb but I may have died befor it is delivered :D

A friend of mine just recieved delivery of a factory order C350 merc with loads of extras £38 grands worth. It arrived at his dealer in just under 6 weeks. Lovely car (not forgetting the snob value of the badge!!). The fact that the Superb takes so long to arrive just goes to show how much of a demand there is throughout Europe and further afield. Sure, Merc has probably much more production capacity, but I cannot help gasping at all the brand new cars the dealers have stockpiled in their compounds (mostly silver!!)

Dare to be different, save a pile of dosh and bide your time.

P.S. It seems to be a myth these days that Mercs hold thier value. My friend was offered a pittance for his in a trade in..

look at it this way; at least your car wont have been sitting in a compound for months. It is built to your order.

I ordered mine a couple of weeks ago and the sales guy said that there was a plan to increase production in order to alleviate some of the backlog of orders. certain options also bump up the lead time. I ordered KESSY and this is causing some delay in my order.

Hi,

just to add a bit of info that might help; the Superb is manufactured at Kvasiny in the Czech Republic, this factory also produces the Yeti and currently the Roomster.

As I understand it demand for both Superb and Yeti are out stripping supply, so their planning on moving Roomster production out to the third Skoda factory in the home country at Vrchlabí which is currently under utilised but that's not due to take place until the new year.

As a side note my Dad had been for many years a Merc owner but three of his last four cars have been Superb's, he's currently running an ex demo 170 DSG Elegance saloon, which he's been very pleased with.

Regards,

TP

Also, July is Czech holiday time and the Superb plant shut for 4 weeks, which won't have helped!

The holiday shutdown was for 3 weeks (they returned to work last Monday, 26th July).

They can't really just increase production. They are already producing as many as they can, it's just supply and demand.

i looked at the c class but because it is a 2.2 i would be paying 18p instead of 11p per mle for fuel. So i wanted a 2 litre.

Getting bored of the wait though :|

I replaced my E class with the Superb , i will never buy Merc again

What was so bad with the Merc?

I'd be a bit frustrated too, but you're getting bored WITH the wait.

I agree, the Tax Issue is a serious one in many respects!

Although the Merc C220 Elegance was only a few quid a month more I went for the Superb SE with a few extras.

I calculated that along with the £10 a month saving in Lease costs and almost £25 a month in BIK Tax savings the Private fuel charge of 11p p Mile on top!

The Superb was not only a better car dynamically it is a no-brainer economically!!!

Still I have just been told by Fleet Manager that I must have the 3 spoke steering wheel with the Flappy Paddles to upgrade the SE to integrated Bluetooth Phone.... extra 50p a month... seems cheap but I didn't think this was necessary as the elegance DSG has a 4 spoke plus I wont use the Flappy Paddles... I don't use my current DSG in manual on the stick, just too good!? Stealers pulling a fast one?

Oh.. I chickened out and Changed the order from Amethyst to Steel Grey... once I had seen it on the road and not in a showroom it looked a bit Pink in some lights for me! Personal Choice!

What colour have you ordered?

I wonder how many dealers are clever enough to order some Superbs with higher spec and colours that customers have been favouring as stock orders. How much discount would customers like us forsake to get an example off the shelf?

I reckon that there is a killing to be made by speculating on a fully loaded Superb.

One of my local dealers has done just that - sold their fully loaded demonstrator for almost the RRP.

There are also some on autotrader / ebay etc with low mileage (up to 10K) that are a lower spec than i have ordered, for a couple of grand more :dull:

My wife and i ordered our brand new greenline superb in steel grey metalic.....i think thats the colour....and that was ordered last week and it was the last in the country according to the salesman we saw...and he said it will be ready for handing over next week .....so 2 weeks waiting i thought was pretty good going. I know the greenline is going through an engine change, but to wait for one of those for say 20 odd weeks wasnt anygood in our case...so we asked the salesman to bust a gut and track one down....so full marks to him.!!

The trouble is that the factory prioritise building sold cars and cars tagged as stock have even longer lead times than normal. Also, once a car leaves the factory and it is tagged as stock any other dealer can just take it for a customer (but not for stock) order.

  • 3 months later...

Hi just order Combi 2.0 TDI CR DPF 103 kW man. Elegance

Im in Prague so lets see how long it will take here, I have been told approx 6 weeks.

Cheers

If it's a W210 E-Class one of his answers will probably be rust.

It probably doesn't help that we drive on the correct side of the road so we probably get less build slots than the rest of the content who are LHD.

IIRC the UK Yetis are built on a Thursday so I guess the Superb will be similar.
