Plastic engine under tray

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Right last night on my way home down some lane I hit a huge f-off rock in the road ( car coming the other way so could not avoid it) any way huge smack and it seems yo took out the back left hand side of the tray, it actually ripped the screws out of there screw holes on the side plastic mount!

So how much is it going to cost to fit and what do I need? What is the plastic side mount called that the tray screws into?

Thanks for any help :)

Dave

Not sure how much it'd be, but iv not had one for about a year! Got ripped off too.

Matt

Aye mine was destroyed last year and never replaced it

Ah right so I don't really need it?! I was thinking of just making some new holes a little way down from the ripped ones and screwing it in there?!? Maybe.....

Cheers - Dave

its not essential no,

look at a scrap yard for a new one 20 quid max

are we talking about the sump guard here? it does sit a little low ive noticed.. emoticon-0112-wondering.gif

A new one from dealers is £28 as I'm wanting a new one aswell

It's a under tray. Doesn't do much, like a engine cover for the bottom of you car. Anyone running some decent amount of droppage will have lost it long ago!

Matt

LOST or taken off!!

not needed...

all id did was scrape anyway, even on the slightest bump lol

its a PEST though

handy running without one you can get the front bumper off to get at the fmic within 2 mins :D

are non of you guys running without the guard worried about catching the sump? if i here it rub i know to 'go steady' i use it as a kind of warning sign... emoticon-0136-giggle.gif ......emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Same. mines hanging in there but hanging half off. hehe

isnt a sump guard seperate to the bit of annoying plastic in question?

sump is a good 3-4 inches higher than the guard anyway ;)

its personal choice, i barly catch mine but i avoid speed bumps and i live on a bad road, if you want to use it as a testing tool like i do and MarkMac then replace it, but the genral if you dont like it/want to spend £30 then rip it off :giggle:

well i dont think the undercover is usless its clearly prevented that 'big rock' from hitting your sump or summin that could have done some costly damage remember its a big engine for a small car so fills the engine bay a lot..so theres a lot of costly parts that it protects plus it protects the inner end of ur drive shaft quite well..... so get that nu one from the dealers +1

Then why have they cut a hole in it for a connector on the intercooler pipe? :giggle:

As if a bit of plastic is going to stop a rock or something damaging the sump.

I would have thought that leaving the floor plate off would destroy the under car airflow and thus create more drag and less speed and also increase the mpg, as well as letting water and muck splash all over the engine bay, it's definitely worth replacing for the small amount that Skoda charge.

Oh and sound dampening.

And it sits lower than the engine so if/when the car is lowered you can brag at how low it is by the undertray :giggle:
