Corn Fields and Rusting Machinery

Featured Replies

Just something that caught my eye as i was taking my folks through to Lincolnshire earlier this week.... I saw the old piece of farm machinery rusting away in the corner of a field as i drove past on the way out so stopped off on my way home afterwards. While i was there i crossed over the road to take some shots of the cornfield opposite so there are some variations of one of the shots i took there.

Nice photos Dave, like the composition on the rusty machinery ones, great sky.

Cracking pictures

Shot number one is the winner for me but I'd like to see it with some dark vignetting. I think that would put more focus on the machinery.

great pix. Agree , shot 1 is best for me.

thanks for sharing......

I like the machinery pics Dave but would have preferred the field shots to have been done on the smallest f-stop possible as the OOF foreground detracts from that shot. Just my opinion though as I think you normally manage to get it right.

I did a lower f-stop version of the field one but it came out all wrong so i didn't bother developing that one. :S

Vignetting is generally the darkening of the corners of the image. It can be caused by shadowing from the lens or be added in post processing. Sometimes it's unwanted and a nuisance but it can be used to highlight the subject. Generally vignetting is dark but you can also use a bleached type of vignette to create an old world look to a photo.

Sorry for doing this without permission (I will delete it is you want) but here is a very quick and rough example.

S'ok i know what vignetting is.... ;)

I can't see your pic at the moment as i'm at work and it blocks image hosting sites. There is a little vignetting added to the first couple of shots along with the colour version of the field pic.... I'm normally a little heavy handed with it but i kept it a little less intrusive with these ones. ;)

Nice pics, I must get out and do some more shots too, and not sports ones for once!!
