Fabia vRS Launch Date?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know the official launch date for the new Fab vRS?

I've been looking around a bit on the 'net and all the pointers are towards September.

I've been drooling over various pictures of it, all I have found is pictures of one in black. Anyone seen any other pics of it. Bet it looks great in Silver.. Red.. Yellow!?

I'm getting seriously tempted by it, but I probably wont be able to afford one anyway!

Its not long to September... ;)

What else did the road test say?

"A missed oppertunity".... i take it thats a euphomism for "you should have put the 1.8T in this you muppets!"

I also read that Evo report. Bought it for the TVR test and saw the report for the vRS. There was me thinking 'bonus'. Then I read the article. They did seem a little dissapointed by it to say the least. :(

Have to say that it does look rather attractive in yellow and the six speed box is a nice addition. Just a shame they only used the PD130. To quote Evo's final paragraph:-

The practicality of five doors, economy, quality and keen pricing are compelling plus points for the Fabia vRS. But this is of little consequence to an enthusiast who wants a sharp, small Skoda that's happy to sing at six thousand revs. All of which leads us to conclude that the Fabia vRS is a missed opportunity.

I'm just aware of the "potential" that the PD130 has for tuning.

I like the fact that it will be a diesel as I prefer the relaxed power delivery and the good economy.

Its just that I could end up spending a small fortune on my current car.

E.G I'd like to change the dampers, brakes and add a spoiler or two.... and it could start to get expensive.

Maybe the Fabia vRS would be a better base as it would have all these already?

Graeme - where did you see the yellow one?

Matthew. The yellow one is in this months Evo mag. Page 46 if you get a chance to browse through a copy. I have to say that I'd definitely go for that car in that colour. Especially after seeing what Jabba can do with the PD130. The only thing stopping me is I don't want to spend 12.5k on a car I know i'd want to do more to anyway. Might as well carry on doing bits and bobs to mine. :D

I suppose 12.5k is a lot for a Fabia, but its a lot of car for the money. In fact its cheaper than the Seat Ibiza with the same engine.

I'll have to lay my hands on this months evo to check out hte yellow Fab.

Any further plans for yours btw Graeme?

FabTdi & Fab16v

To me that's the problem with the vRS Fabia for you two guys - the price.

As you've both made some nice modifications to your cars and you would certainly wish to look at the

engine (and brakes / suspension) if you bought a vRS.

I doubt that Skoda will be discounting hugely when it comes out, so you could easily spend

Once you start modding you never stop. I'm already thinking big brakes, lower suspension, IHI 300bhp turbo etc and I'm of that age where insurance is 'reasonable' ;)

Yah do it!

Big plans for mine, but going to wait till the car is all paid for and insurance companies don't sting me too much. Couple of years time. Should give me time to scrimp and save for the mods planned.

Will be staying as the same 1.4 16v engine, but hopefully about double the power once finished! :D

Oh yeah. Nearly forgot about the 1.0 MPi badge that will go on the back too! ;)

Think the tailpipe will have to become a little more subtle to fit in with my plans though.

Rob,

The price of the new vRS wouldnt be a huge problem if Ireally wanted to get one.

I reckon insurance for a standard Fabia vRS wouldnt be too bad for me either. I reckon it would be maximum group 14 (Golf PD 150 ins group) However the Ibiza sport 130PD is only ins group 7

My problem is that with the mods I am making, my insurance is going up bit by bit as I make more mods. This will go up more if i start to change the dampers, brakes etc.

I dont think I would need to modify the vRS Fab much (although the promise of 400nm of torque is tempting!) as I dont want an "out and out" performance car.

I feel that if I modify my car too much it will be a] expensive ( to buy the bits in the first palce and insure) and b] tricky to sell on.

Graeme,

Perhaps I should get a 1.9 SDi badge!

How is the old rolling-road Torquemonster Champion running ? :)

Is your current pipe a bit in your face then?

Can't say I ever noticed... :D

I think that going from a fabia upto the vRS when it's released isn't worth it - for me anyway. As Fabpreza says, it would be cheaper to get a second-hand Oct vRS than a new Fab vRS... (Which I keep thinking about, but SWMBO doesn't quite agree!)

I would be interested to find out what parts of the vRS would fit onto a standard fab though - I quite like the look of the front bumper / fog lights :D

Alpha Newspapers Motoring Page - standard guff about the fab vrs

Hoot! Newslink - not much info, just a picture and the words "due in October..."

Auto Express - mini preview

Not much info I could see about a concrete release date though...

Well - I'm going to test drive one as soon as I can. I may put my name down at the dealer and get them thinking they're on to a quick sale - tough luck, chaps! :)

Graeme, have you cahnged your exhaust?

I thought that it just blown :D

A 4X4 turbo badge would look the dog's b****x! Now where can I get a 1.0 MPi badge to replace that 1.4 16V badge? :D

Think there is a very small hole in it somewhere!

Come to think of it, there is. The drain hole in the tailpipe! ;)

Had a quick flick through Evo today to read up on the Fabia vRS. The write up seemed less than favourable! - Basically saying that its not really quick enough and generally not as focussed as the Octavia vRS.

Its still a great looking car though and the Yellow looks amazing.

Perhaps I'll just stick with mine for the moment.

Regarding swapping parts over a la stimps the 130PD injectors should fit into the little torquemonster (like that one Rob!) :D

Spoke with my friendly dealer this morning (they have the car again today, bless em) - Fabia RS is "anytime now" - have made them promise us a test drive \ review drive for the site.

Will keep you posted.

If you need a hand "testing " the new Fabia RS let me know. :D

I've got this months EVO as well; Fabia vRS a missed opportunity. However I suppose for Skoda this is sales driven seeing as diesels ar ethe biggesst growth area particularly with the new company car tax rules etc...blah...blah.

I personally feel a sport orientated car should have a petrol engine purely due to the driving characteristics of the engine. I have no qualms about owning a diesel and have done so twice in the past; like the torque and lazy driving style.

I think EVO summed it all up quite well; nice car but a missed oppotunity.

As for transferring parts to non vRS Fabias....I imagine there be no problem...apart from may be specific engine bits.

Cheers.

Adrian.
