Incar Gauges (boost Et Al)

Featured Replies

On http://www.g7pkf.homeip.net/cars/octavia/radio.htm I found the plug for the radio, in specific this diagram:

So it would appear to be section III, pin 7 (Battery positive (B+) supply - unit power)... but ask for a second opinion please cos I would hate to see that gauge go boom when you switch the radio on

Des,

if you are sure all those 2 wires are for is a Bulb, it proberbly does not matter which way around the wires go. BUT if it has any additional circuitry inside then I think Q is proberbly right.

edit. if its the multi colour one, then it will have extra stuff inside. I tried in vain to find some english instructions online, you may need to contact autometer if you want some english instructions.

Yes it is the multi colour face one. It does indicate on the Jap instructions that the yellow wire is 12V +, I think you can just make it out on the last pic I posted.

Yes, I agree, one wire is 12V (is about the only recognisable things from those instructions), which means the other goes to ground...

Sorted, it's the black and orange wire at the back of the head light switch which connects to the yellow wire on the gauge. This powers up the gauge only when the ignition is on and is not lights dependant, the black wire goes to earth, pheeeew. :D

PS thanks guys. ;)

So how did you find out? Trial and error  ?

I used a multi meter on the terminals at the back of the light switch untill I found the one that comes on with the ignition.

And how do you get at the back of the light switch? I take it, you removed the side of the dashboard somehow? We need more pictures! ;)

Ah this is the clever bit if you push the light switch in/up and turn it right the centre of the switch pulls out. :)

Huh? So instead of normal right turn you push it inwards and turn it to the right?
