What exhaust for Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

I'm picking up a Fabia VRS on Wednesday & at some point I may look into tuning it a bit.

From what I've heard, putting a performance exhaust on a diesel car sounds like gargling down a drain pipe.

What exhaust is best for performance & sound? Milltek? Blueflame? Janspeed?

If this question has already been asked thousands of times then I'm sorry, please direct me to the appropriate thread.

:)

you'll get little performance increase from an exhaust...rest depends on cosmetic looks...twin pipe/single pipe etc...

You have 4 main options. Miltec, Scoripon, Jetex, and Blueflame.

The Blueflame is a oval tailpipe, looks like this;

Around £290

The Miltec is a twin round and looks like this;

£320ish

The Jetex looks like this;

Around £240

And lastly the scorpion show on my lovely car, which is filthy, but looks very similar to the blueflame

Around £290 for a cat back

As for gains, speed wise, it`ll help with a map, or when chasing big power, but not massively on its own. Sound wise, when i changed mine, but i am well pleased with it, much deeper note, you`ll never make a diesel sound amazing, but it does sound nicer on full chat, while sounding standard when rolling about. Looks wise, its down to personal choice. You could decat it too, plus and minus points, but thats a whole other kettle of fish.

Hope no one minds me using the pics off the forum. :p

Milltek makes little sound but its quality, best look, biggest bore

Or alternatively, get a custom built one or just get the back box chopped off :thumbup::D

thats my car with the miltec on and i must say the miltec's do look better clean ! :giggle::rofl:

I appreciate the detailed reply.

The car I'm buying has already had a remap to 170BHP.

It has a K&N Apollo intake, but I've read up on the Seat PD160 intake with a pannel filter, which would be best at minimising heat soak?

I've been leaning towards the Milltek, I'm not overly keen on a huge single bore tailpipe.

Would another remap be needed after fitting an aftermarket exhaust?

What are peoples opinions on de-cats? Diesels are tested for smoke rather than emissions like petrols?

Then again I don't want huge clouds of black smoke coming out the back.

Another remap wouldnt be worth it TBH, im sure you`ll notice a small difference anyway. No exhaust will cause extra smoke.

As for a decat, its a bit of a confusing subject due to the way the turbo works on the fabia, which some say can damage the turbo. However, it was kinda cleared up to me with a recent post by jabba sport in another thread. If you decat a standard car, its ok, and if you decat a car remapped to run with a decat, its ok again. HOWEVER, if you decat a car that has been remapped to run WITH A CAT, (as yours has) then it could cause damage. MOT is fine, as diesels dont have emissions test.

Remember milltek is 2.5" bore the others are 2.25" bore the same as the standard system!!!

Milltek FTW
