Hit a pheasant at ~60mph

Featured Replies

Before stating a new thread, I thought I'd post in this one instead.

This week I hit a bird too. I'm not sure if was a pheasant, but it made a large bang on the front and windscreen when it hit.

I noticed my headlight is loose (after pulling feathers from it). After closer inspection I noticed one of the brackets has snapped off.

I'm guessing that this is not one of those clips mention in this thread earlier. Is it fixable without buying a whole new light unit?

what clip u on about mate? i hit a pheasant last week its knackered a clip on my headlight as well lol

I too have broken the clips on the O/S headlight due to a pheasant related incident.

Should be able to superglue it, but it will never be as strong as it was from stock. Its part of the chassis of the headlight. That side clip and the two on top are not that tough at all really. I would be tempted to superglue it then wrap a thin bit of black duct tape around it for extra reinforcement.

Thanks for the advice Jason.

However, if I need to replace the headlight Unit, is it a bumper off job, or can I remove it another way?

As you can see it's the Near Side (ie passenger) one.

Bumper off job 5-10 min job to get bumper off pretty easy

Last night I noticed my main beam bulb didn't work, so this morning I investigated it. Before I took the bulb out I saw the levelling motor was loose, I looked closer and it has snapped off. This will definitely mean a new headlight unit. B :swear: er!

So I have a few questions:

Will a brand new or 2nd hand one come with this motor?

If it does will it need to be Calibrated with Vag-com, (I've read Xenon ones do)?

How much is a headlight unit - new or from a scrappy/skospares?
