Half leather standard on VRS ?

Featured Replies

Just spoke to a Skoda Sales person who says the VRS has half leather seats as standard, is this right?

Also, does anyone know where I can find the MPG for the 2.0 TSI engine in the VRS, the brochure still says TFSI, even though it's for model year 2011.

Thanks

yes.....the sides r leather, the middle is cloth.

And it is very cheap to upgrade to full leather.. I got it and it was only 700 euro extra

How come they allow it on the Elegance and L&K models with the manual but not the VRS ?

because they dont have a VRS badged steering wheel on them and they are 4 spoke (i think). At the moment the only VRS designed steering wheels are 3 spoke leather with no buttons and leather with buttons and flappy paddles for the DSG gearchange.

they are dimwits at skoda for being so short sighted as I would have happily paid to upgrade my steering wheel to multifunction :(

Cant see the point of audio controls on wheel anyway, if you cant reach the radio how do you manage the gears !! you can link volume to speed anyway. I think controls on wheel are dangerous< you look down.> my wife had an Auris they were on wheel, she now has a DS3 and they are on a stalk, much more intuitive

i really missed them when I moved from my L&K and id disagree about them being a distraction as you can feel which button it is you're pressing. The same goes for the audio controls being on touch screen. You cant feel those so have to look at the screen to press the buttons which does distract you. I found the same when I went from a button based ipod to an itouch and you cant change tracks easily when its in your pocket as you cant feel the buttons!

The other problem with the skoda radios is that they're geared for left hand drive market so have the important volume knob on the far left side which is furthest away! Why they dont add something in the software to give you the option to swap the left an right buttons around is beyond me.

You guys must have really short arms , and as I said volume is linked to speed , if you cannot reach for the volume how do you engage 1st gear ! the volume button is 1" further away! :giggle:

It's not a distraction to push the buttons on a MFSW like the other chap says you learn where they all are and don't even need to look, in fact I'd say it's more of a distraction going for the volume on the stereo.

didyou you know im only 3'2" tall :giggle: It must bet the way I have my seat setup (and my short arms). I can sit back and select first gear all day but it requires extra reach and a lean forward to change the volume and the speed sensitive gala works fine for the radio but not for my ipod as ive got tracks on there with different volume levels which need adjusting :(

Thats good to know as ive only tried it in the showroom. Im picking up my FL tomorrow so ill try it on the way home :D

I will have to look at Chrisrs wheel , they must be more intuitive or larger buttons , like I said the auris ones were awful, and I must admit just measured my left arm that is 3'2" !:giggle::thumbup:

Edit, Sworrall what colour you going for this time

lol at teh 3'2", i only pciked that number out of the air as well :)

Ive gone for white this time. Would have loved another blue it would have looked too similar.

Im getting the wheels done in anthracite at the end of october when ive road tested them for a month :D Hopefully if Skoda ever get their arses into gear ill get an estate spoiler too once they bring a new one out.

I can't believe I'm reading this! Anyone else with MFSW think their controls are dangerous?

Nope. I don't need to look at the MFSW controls to fast forward/skip tracks etc whereas with the Bolero I have to take my hand of the wheel and look at the screen to hit the correct button...

I have a 3 spoke leather trimmed wheel on my Elegance and it has the illuminated paddle shift gear selectors on it.

Also has 3 buttons on each of the cross spokes which can be used for a multitude of different functions.

I have found this to be serious aid to safer driving and would not like to be without it now that I have become familiar with the use of it.

I fail to see why any one would not prefer this as an aid to safety and convenience.

Remember going back to the good old days when the choke was removed and people could just not accept it.

The old school also liked to have adjustable tappets, top up batteries, contact beakers, brake adjusters and starting handles etc etc.

I can remember when windscreen washers were first introduced and many people thought them to be totally unnecessary.

I suppose there will also be an element who oppose the introduction of any new innovation, till they get it, then it's the best thing

since sliced bread.

What else can you recall from the "Good old days" that we are far better off with out.

I had a Ford Escort 1300E with one of them !!...and an old Trannie van (with sliding doors !!) that also had this "deluxe" feature.

I conned my apprentice into believing they were "auto" wipers for a while too...who knew !!??...it was like Sci Fi in the 70's !

This is brilliant!! that's mental I can't believe these things used to exist!

You can actually have audio controls on the indicator/washer stalks on a non-DSG vRS via the maxidot system. Not quite as immediate as having them as separate buttons on the wheel, but for changing volume/track it's as near as and it shows up on the maxidot display too (you use the rocker switches on the ends of the stalks)...

and the rest is Vi'nyl

Ah you didn't say you had all got bolero stereos , if I had one of those I would have to pull over and get my reading glasses out.:giggle: Still think controls are better on a stalk. My m1 fiesta pop had a foot operated windscreen washer pump as well
