New Furby

Featured Replies

Need someone to help me with a little query i have with my 2 week old VRS.

Initially when i had it delivered and after checking it over i went to turn the ignition on and i can only describe what sounded like the fuel pump engaging, but the sound it made was like an air-lock releasing then a squirt of say liquid (fuel)

Have ran her for two weeks now and whether or not it's just me or i was ignoring the noise i thought it had gone. Yesterday when starting it came back! Anybody got an idea? Does it happen with all or have i got a problem and it's back to the dealer?

Answers on a post card!! :confused:

It's number 3 on my top three lists of things that are slightly annoying about my Fabia, but are truly insignficant in comparison to what I've had to put up with in my previous cars:

1. Slight rubbing noise at 30mph in 3rd gear;

2. Vibration in front driver's door card (but only when the stereo's too loud ;) );

3. Squirty noise when turning key in ignition (I've noticed it squirts whether you turn the engine over or not, but only the first time you put the key in).

None of the above have caused me any problems in 6000 miles, and the dealers haven't found anything wrong. I had stopped even noticing TBH...

I have the intial noise too. It's like a "clunk & squirt" when you turn the key. I can only put it down to 2 things:-

1. Fuel pump priming itself?

or

2. ABS check?

Wonder if they all do it? My neighbour has just got himself a VRS and he tells me his does not, this is very strange. Going to find a dealer who speaks common and ask them.

Cheers guys :thumbup:

Mine does it. I think they all do it, but not all the time. It might be temperature dependent??? Doesn't bother me - I think it sounds quite cool.

It's definitely not the ABS testing itself. You can hear this when you first start off - you get a slight "thunk" from the front as you move.

Mine also does it mate, and you will rpobably get a cluck when you drive off, that is the abs sorting itself out.

Same here - does it sometimes. Hoping it's nothing to worry about.

excellent guys, thanks again. I also get a slight clunk from the front when starting off, i thought it was down to me as i fitted the Seat strut brace last week and thought i may not have torqued down a bolt correctly, has had me paranoid.

Cheers :cheers:

The squirt is normal I'm sure - Its the fuel pump or something pushing fuel along ready for a quick reliable starting up... Ross will confirm this one way or the other, I'm sure.

indeed Jason, sounds about right from what ross has said in the past, it's nothing to be worried about it, mine does it and to be honest I dont notice it anymore.

It's the fuel pump priming the PD system IIRC, nothing to worry about.

Mine has done it since day 1 . It does get louder and more noticable as the fuel tank level gets lower.

The first time I noticed it was when I had just filled up with diesel for the first time after getting the car, turned the key halfway and heard the furby doing its big SLUURRRRP :dtp:

I knew right away, this cars got character :D:thumbup:

Nothing to worry about me shouldn't think.

Correct, give that man an eyebrow, hell give him two :D

Also the jarring noise you get when you first start moving is the ABS self test.

The squirting noise is quite normal so don't worry. As Jasey says, it's the fuel pump or cooler or something. I asked this same question many months ago and Ross did in fact confirm it as being nowt to worry about.

Aye your right it is the lift pump in the tank priming the system
