Dodgy Electronics?

Featured Replies

I have a Skoda Fabia (2000) and I seem to have problems with a few of the electrical aspects of the car.

  • The electric windows reguarily change over (right does left window and vice versa) is there anyway of stopping this?
  • The lights and dashboard lights flicker and fade all the time???
  • The steering light comes on reguarily but just turning ignition on and off stops this???

The front driver side wheel ha a squeaking sound as if something is ribbing but I have taken the wheel off and back on and it still occurs?

any help is much appreciated.

thanks

First 3 likely to be the battery or bad earth for the battery. Noise from wheel area, brake disc splash plate rubbing on disc, or brakes need a service.

Sounds like the battery to me. That noise is probably the PAS motor struggling to operate on low voltage

+1 Knackered battery often causes all manner of electrical/electronic weirdness.

Yeah some of us are unlucky & the pas problem isnt always the battery or PAS pump... I am yet to find out what the problem actually is after 6 weeks!

It may be alternator or ecu problems or even the loom :(

Mines going in tomorrow hopefully will know what its is soon.....

having the same problems all the time. seems when i have more thigs turned on the more it effects it . . .lights heaters etc . . .iv had the battery tested and it was o.k

It seems to affect everthing though my radio turns on/off

my lights dim when i steer

and the other day i had all warning lights come on and even my engine warning light came on turn car on/ off all back to normal

and the other day when i was parkin up stop my car keys out then my alarm started goin off then stopped had this twice

has anyone else been having these type of faults

think it about time i took the car in cos when the steering goes it gets dangerous.

Have you bothered to do a search? He says in desperation as another kitten dies horribly (sprayed with ammonia whilst tethered to my fabia)

Can be the blue wire to the alternator broken...... This is evident by checking for the Battery picture on the dash when you turn the ignition on (without starting the car). No battery picture means charging system is playing up. It will usually start charging if you rev the engine to 3 or 4 thousand revs. Check the battery voltage with the engine running just after starting. Should be 14V or more.

This fault is also picked up by a scan with VAGCOM. I have a VAGCOM kit, so can scan cars for anyone in the West Midlands or near Coventry for the price of a Big Mac meal :-)
