stolen fabia vrs

Featured Replies

hi, unfortunatly my fabia vrs was stolen from outside my girlfriends, and with me still having both sets of keys im struglling to figure out how they even started it with the so called immobiliser its meant to have. it was clear they had smashed the drivers window to get in and when the car was recovered the ignition barrel was in the footwell, still doesnt answer the question of the immobiliser, does anyone have any thoughts on this?? would be greatly appreciated.

thanks mark.

If there is an answer to this I doubt it would be wise for anyone to post in a publicly viewable forum.

I wonder if perhaps they towed it and broke the ignition just to get the steering lock off?!

i get your point but im just a little confused that obviously my immobiliser failed, and i doubt it was towed as it looks like they had a good time in it the tyres had flat spots all over them from wheels spinning! b*****ds

Odd question I know if you press the lock button twice it deactivates the alarm but does it also stop the immobliser working?

+1

thats a bad idea.

Sorry to hear about your car though...

Did they wreck it?

I thought that just disabled interior sensors??

the cars a bit of a mess inside what with glass and police forensics everywhere only real damage was to the tyres and a few little scratches!

and i thought pressing the lock button twice deadlocked it?

I hope the transmission dmf etc survived their abuse too mate. Is yours mapped?

Grr666 I think your right i didn't explain it right! So I'm taking it won't disable the immobiliser then just spit balling ideas out there. It's unlikely but it is possible for people to bypass the immobiliser but that's pretty advance stuff!

fingers crossed, yes its mapped.

yeah, thats what i thought my uncle works with car electrics and is baffled about it says i should contact skoda and see what they say? not that i think they will say much!

and i thought pressing the lock button twice deadlocked it?

Nope. a popular misconception I'm afraid. :(

As far as I know the double press on lock feature is for when you

leave a kid/dog in the car and don't want a false alarm while you jump out to

pay for your fuel etc.

When the deadlocks are engaged you can't open the doors from the inside.

Not going to post the name and suplier on here but immo on these EDC15P+ ECU is very easy to remove indeed.

With laptop and correct cable immo can be off in around 10 seconds!

Some genuine reasons to do this, for example reading and cloning ECU's, makes secondhand ECU more valuable as it becomes "plug and play"

However i am sure in wrong hands it becomes a big problem!

right i see well whatever happened it was still fully locked with the red light flashing when found, so whatever they used didnt override the central locking system, unless they were a more considerate thief that locked my car back up after there joy ride!!! :)

Sorry to hear about this fella, i hope all the internal drive components are as you left them, if the tyres are knackered its probably had a hard time

fingers crossed

thanks well suppose i will wait and see when i get it back from the garage!

Since the introduction of immobilisers I haven't seen modern cars stolen without keys, sounds quite odd. If they took it and just ragged it around I woundn't expect them to be professional criminals with electronic gadgets to override immobilisers.

^^ as above. Surely a couple of joy riders won't have the gadgets to do this.

Lucky to get the car back mate but what is worrying is they just drove it away. How :wonder:

How long have you had the car? maybe the previous owner had a copy of the key made

How far away was the car, maybe they had tried to start it but when it would not start they gave up and abandoned it. The immo is part of the dashpod, and its paired to the ECU and keys. Without the correct codes its impossible to bypass with normal tools like vag-com, but whos to say that it cant be bypassed using some other obd software.

Hummmm, something doesnt sound right. If it was so easy to do I'm sure the thieves wouldn't bother breaking into houses for keys (like mr ree's case). Also, would your average joyrider go to these lengths?!

Best guess is when it was mapped they also de imobilised the ecu, have you had the car from new? Or the ecu has been replaced at some point and wasn't replaced with a brand new one that was coded to the car but a cheaper de immobilised ebay item.

If they want your car then the professional will take it.

They steal presige cars like Mercedes etc these days, let alone a Fabia, sad but true.

Sorry for your loss, hopefully you can get it all put back as-was without too much expense.
