Nokia N8

Featured Replies

Anyone thinking of giving this a whirl?

I'm a bit of a Nokia loyalist, with my last 3 phones being the N91,N95 and N97, I was a wee bit dissapointed with the N97, but as the software has progressed I have either become used to it or it has actually got better.

I have, for no apparent reason, rebelled against the apple revolution but thought it was inevitible that my next phone was going to be the Iphone 4, then I had a look at the new N8, it seems to be pretty good, new symbian software, and HDMI output and 12 meg camera.

Quite a good review here:

I got a HIV Desire after the agony that was my N97. It's amazing to have a smartphone that is actually quite smart. My 97 was terrible I was pulling the battery 3 times a day. Screen was useless build qaulity crap the list goes on.

Never again for me, you're very brave mate.

http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum/showthread.php?t=96619 doesn't look too good so far tbh.

I ditched Nokia for android as well and won't be looking back at anything symbian.

All the n8 is running is a new interface ontop of the old OS

I went for the disease free version - the HTC Desire and I'm very happy with it - I did try the Nexus One (refused to dial out) and Galaxy S (fantastic screen - poor sat nav - pathetic battery) in my quest though.

Thats what I said HIV ................;)

I had a play with one and thought it was very good and seemed faster and less buggy than other first release F/Ware.

Apparently the battery can be replaced under a cover held down with a couple of screws.

Non removable battery :o

Non removable battery :o

It's just hidden away under a removable cover on these. I believe the manual tells you how to replace it, so unlike the piephones and piepods of days past (no idea about the current ones) you don't have to post them back for a new battery.

Well, thought I lost my phone cycling home last night, so blocked it and ordered an upgrade, turns out I didnt lose it at all, it was in the top drawer of my desk.

But the bonus is, I will be getting a new phone, was supposed to be tomorrow but the release date has been moved to the 22nd.

and what is it?

its a big beast of a thing, which will suit me with cowtits for fingers, and after reading the reviews it just seems to be a great all rounder.

Not as good a camera as the N8 - But thats why I have a camera, no FM Modulator which I did use occasionally, and only 1.5 Gb storage but other than that it looks to be pretty damn good.

Good choice. I dumped Nokia ages ago for HTC Desire, the only thing you need to do is keep a spare battery with you if you like playing loads of games, bashing the web etc (namely moderate to heavy usage).

In fact I carry 3! emoticon-0136-giggle.gif
