Bonnet Bra

Featured Replies

I am getting my bonnet resprayed on my rally red vRS as its badly stone chipped,i was thinking about getting a bonnet bra to stop the stone chips coming back again just wondering if anyone has one on there car and if they have any pics or just your opinion on bonnet bras on octavias.

cheers

There was one for sale in the classifieds section not too long ago ;)

The Bras cause more damage than stones, the gentle rubbing of the bra against the paint scratches the whole surface where the contact is meaning you'll need to get it sprayed again.

Your rally red car must be nearly 10 years old now, so stone chips are to be expected, just enjoy it again and be prepared for another respray in years to come.

In a word they look pants. sorry can't see the point in them.As mentioned they cause more damage then not having one, and most don't fit that good .

looks alright on a black car, but like said above just get it painted 10 years down the line :giggle:

I've got some chips on my tailgate. Do they do underpants for cars?

Seriously though, each to their own, but it really does seem pointless unless you have a show car or a car that is worth serious money. They don't look good at all. Their point is not to look good, but to protect the bonnet from chips, which also seems questionable.

Thanks for your opinions guys, i don't think i will get one i had one on my Corrado VR6 after i got the bonnet resprayed on that and it did look good on that, thanks for posting the pic up mate your car does look good i am not to sure a bra would look good on my red octy but it suits your car well. Thanks again

I'd rather have chips than stick that my car!! :S

But its your choice

In my personal opinion bras are meant to be removed....Arnt they...?? ;)

ive got a Facelift 2010 VRS and had it covered in stuff called Ventureshiewld which is a 3m product. I had the whole front kit applied including a complete bonet wrap, looks just like it did when it came from the factory which is the way i like it. A company called covertech did mine, they are based in Birmingham. I paid 500 for the whole lot but its there for years and years to come and will also aid me when i come to part with the car. I also had some put on the back of the car where the most wear takes place ( tailgate area)

and left on the floor.... in the corner of the garage :giggle:

TBH i don't think it looks that bad.

Don't know if i'd have one though.

Its definitely a marmite thing.

I wasnt to sure on it at first...but it has grown on me :p

I think with it been on a black car it doesnt look to in your face.

Don't do it they look rubbish. If you want to protect a respray get one of the paint protection films/products that are out there like paintshield. Friend had it put on his car after a front end respray and the only chip in the paint work after 18k miles of hard driving on fun European roads (eg alps) is on the one bit they missed when putting it on.

I've got a black leather one if anyone wants it as I dnt do much motor way miles anymore

I think it would be ok in a hot climate where there is not as much rain, I believe they are an American idea. Its not ideal on our roads with all sorts of weather and as such they will probably cause more harm than good by trapping water between the pain and bra. They are probably worth while on route 66 with a full bra on your chevy! The other thing is that it covers the bonnet when most of the stone chips occur on the bumper. I would say its better to look after the car as much as possible, do not drive up the back of people on the motorway and when the time comes have it resprayed.
