Vehicle History Checkers... Any recommendations?

Featured Replies

I just wanted to know if anyone had any reccomendations for the vehicle history checkers that are available online.

Are they all the same info from the same place?? And if so who offers the best deals??? I've had a look through a few and it looks like the options are £20 for one or £25 for upto five checks. Anyone seen any better prices than these?

Cheers

Dave.

The text checkers are £3 a throw, don't think it was as detailed as HPi etc when I did one last, but confirmed the main stuff like owners, stolen, scrapped etc. I wasn't charged either when I entered the wrong no. plate.

When I got my vRS, I didn't bother with anybody else. Did a proper HPi check - Link

If the information they provided was rubbish, and the car turned out to be stolen etc, then I could claim my money back for the car.

I also got 7 days free insurance, which proved useful while I tried to sell my old car.

I went for the one that has an iPhone app...... The name of it escapes me now. Costs £2.99 per check and brings back everything you need to know. As the IS is being bought from a Seat dealer they are also giving me 7 days free insurance as part of their standard approved used car deal.

If you want to know the car data, (model, tax status etc) I find this site good.

Free Car Check

I would imagine (as I've never done it) it will be the same as those text check things you see advertised, but Free.

Probably too late now Dave, but AutoCheck offer 5 checks, and it's £20 using the code in the Freedom benefit section

Recommended. Gives a good level of info, including buying protection on the car you end up buying.

You get that info for free on the one i used but when you pay the £2.99 you get extra info regarding if the vehicle has been stolen, stolen & recovered, written off, had a reg change, etc....

The one i used in the end was 'MyCarCheck' app for the iPhone.
