Off to Wales to see what the Vrs is about!

Featured Replies

Morning all,

I've had my Vrs for abit now, only driven it around local roads and a few motorway runs, but i've been very impressed with the handling so far. Used to own an Impreza P1 before and it handled very well indeed, i want to take the Vrs down the same route and roads i used to in that, will be intresting to see how the Vrs gets on. Will tell you all how i got on later!

Not as well as the P1 lol

i rate my vrs a better drive than our subaru sti type ra 555 subaru :giggle:

Don't try to turn in as late as you can with the P1 and you'll be fine :) I think the slow steering and the roll at the rear end are the only thing that let unmodded Octys down, as the ride is amazingly composed at speed.

Well after nearly 200 miles im back safe and sound!

I began steadily on fast A roads and didnt attack the bends like i did in the P1, i slowly started to push harder expecting the FWD understeer to kick in.As said you cant turn in as late as a Subaru, but if you pick your line it does flow very nicely. Even with the damp conditions it only went wide a few times on quite extreme bends which i was quite impressed with, lift of oversteer was possible and small drifts were achieved in certain places where was safe to do so ;) ,but the lack of 4wd to rely on stopped me exploring this too far in the wet. As interphase said the ride is amazingly composed at high speeds and i have to totally agree. Obviously the VRS couldnt reach the same speeds between bends as the P1 did, but i had alot of fun trying :giggle: The ride was firm but reassuring(even with Toyo T1R 225/45/17's fitted) and the brakes were suprisingly good too.

Its after all the twisties and as i began my return journey i really appreciated the VRS, its happy to cruise at whatever speed you want(within reason), its comfy and it doesnt drink like Oliver Reed (the P1 did!) I still have fuel left and ive done 200 miles hard driving, sorry all, totally new concept for me being an ex scooby driver :giggle: It also doesnt shout look at me and listen to my exhaust, its a very good car, even in standard guise(just a green cotton filter fitted) and for the price i paid unbeatable value imho. As you can probably guess i like my VRS

Sorry for picture quality, was too busy enjoying myself! :giggle:
