Mud flaps

Featured Replies

Has anyone fitted Skoda mud flaps to their Superb 11?

If so how easy is it and is there anything to look out for.

Thanks, Phil. emoticon-0148-yes.gif

The fronts are held on by two of the inner plastic wing srews. The rears by three of the inner wing screws. Front screws can be removed quite easily by slight lock of the wheels, rears a little more awkward but I had a flexible drive with a screwdriver set and it was no problem. No need to remove wheels, flaps shaped to fit body, Due to age can't remeber if the flaps had the fitting holes in or just marked :( . Dealers will charge at least an hour for this job, easy money. :giggle:

Thanks for that info. I think I can tackle them ok myself. Cheers, Phil, emoticon-0148-yes.gif

badbaz has fitted some to his combi here, an extra hole is needed for the front ones:

"The flaps have all you need, they are semi clipped into place around the bumper edges then the torx bolts which hold the bumper are refitted to hold the flaps too. You just need a 6 or 7mm drill to make the final hole for the front ones for the plastic plugs which are included.

The flaps are good value and fit well, shame they weren't a bit bigger"

couldn't have put it better myself! ;)

Phil,

You are now paying the price of having your car early, at least when mine arrives it will have them fitted.

Expertly I hope with the extra wait I have had compared to you :giggle:

Looking at the rear splashes on badbaz's car makes me wonder if they are a waste of time. Phil.

Not a waste of time Phil, they do afford some protection and I'd recommend them for all they cost.

My car has been at the dealers a week now, still waiting for the DVLA to do their bit. :envy:

Hopefully my mud flaps should be fitted by now. I'll be rather "pee'd off" if they are delivered in their packaging in the boot.

Top tip if you are doing them yourself is to warm them up with a haridryer before bolting them up they will follow the lines of the car better

Too late. Bummer!

Too late for the rear ones, but I still got the fronts to do

Are they that bad a fit then?

I fitted the rears without a hairdrier last weekend and they went on just fine and they look like they were fitted at the factory

They are a steal at £20 a pair. VW want £105 for the Passat CC ones.

Fitted the fronts this weekend.

I took the wheels off but I still not had enough room to drill the holes with my cordless drill, so I knocked a 7mm drill bit into a wooden file handle and drilled the holes by hand, it worked like a charm.

Very easy fit, no wheels off required & just full lock either way f

or the fronts. I found it best dumping the plastic plugs for the 3rd front fixings just screwed a good galvanised self tapper through.

They do make a huge difference in appearance & protection & they are fairly cheap

I thought the price was wrong when I enquired about them! Bought a full set and really tried to fit them without removing wheels (18") but took the wheels off in the end. It is a tight fit at the front but I used an old 240V drill with a short body and got the job done. A bit of force is required to get them in place but they do a reasonable job and have a nice look to them. Ver happy.
