1.2TSI development car required, ECU now cracked. PM me for something of a special offer ;)

Any news about 1.2 TSI? Can it be tuned without physically opening ECU?

Yes it can but we are still in need of a development car to finalise the mapping.

Interesting read fair play. As the car aint on the road at the momment does anyone know of anyone offering discount if i remove the ecu and post it to be remapped. I know i wont be able to put it on the rollers at the mo but rather remove it while i am still finishing the car. Mine is the 2.0 TSI engine.

Are you any closer to 'breaking into' and remapping the 170 vRS octavia diesel chip Shark-90?

Shark have remapped a couple of CR140 and CR170 Yeti to my certain knowledge so I'm sure they will be able to do a CR170 Octavia vRS.

If you would like to send the ECU to us then we could do it for you on the bench, alternatively you could use the Self Tuning System to remap your car.

If you'd like to discuss us bench flashing your ECU and a possible discount, please give us a call on 01623 332233.

Yes, we've remapped scores of CR170 engined cars with "protected" ECUs - see http://www.sharkperformance.co.uk/news/article.asp?id=129 for details

1. Is the ECU protection riddle for EDC17 - OBD programming - now solved or does it still require a bench flash. I am in India and am waiting to use STS and install a remap.

2. How do i check if my car really has a protected ECU or an earlier ECU? The I car i drive was manufactured in Nov'10 and is a 110PS, 2 ltr, CR Diesel Octavia II.

Unfortunately it still requires a bench flash if it's protected, however earlier ones can be flashed over the OBD port.

It's virtually impossible to tell if you have a protected ECU without trying to read it I'm afraid.

Thanks for the response. Can the STS read if the ECU is protected or otherwise?

I remember reading advise against tuning box because of risk of damaging the DPF due to over fueling/smoke. But i know the car i drive does not have a DPF installed from factory. So in the interim while the ECU protection is still getting resolved is tuning box an option? What would you recommend?
