Yeti Greenline Now AVAILABLE

Featured Replies

Exactly my thoughts when I looked at the photos earlier

The info on the link posted does not say it's lowered.

It says there are "aerodynamic alterations to the lower part of the car. (the clearance was lowered by 25mm to 155mm)"

Maybe it has some form of undertray that gives it less clearence, but the suspension is not actually lowered much or at all?

If you click on the link, there is an ad on the right side. AZ-Pneu. here you can select the tyre size you need for the Yeti and get a comprehensive list of the brands of winter tyres in the Yeti sizes.

Granted, the language is Czech, but the tyre size etc are the same numbers we use, and the brands are also mostly well known.

It does appear that all the major tyre companies offer the Yeti sizes, at least in Czech republic, so also elsewhere.

Very interesting.

I thought the 2.0TDI as the smallest diesel was a little odd at launch when the 1.6 existed.

The official line was that the 1.6 didn't work well in such a large car but that's obviously changed.

This might be on my list for my next car now.

i was wondering too if this suggests the 2.0 DI 110's days are numbered. However I suspect the 1.6 can't produce the extra torque that the 2.0 can for the 4wd variant (the Octavia 4x4 is available with the 1.6 though, but with standard 250nm of torque).

it would be interesting to see a comparison of the performance of the Greenline 1.6 and 2.0 110 2wd

Believe the recently replaced Passat kept both engines available for customers.

The 4x4 110 engine has a different ID code CFHF to that of the 2wd CFHA and produces 30 Nm more torque. Be miffed if the replaced it with the 1.6 TDI 4x4 before I get mine, as I personally feel it's an inferior package emoticon-0124-worried.gif

Hi TP

I think you're right about the Passat. I believe the Audi A4 and Seat Exeo have 120 bhp versions of the 2.0 TDI as well as the 140 and 170, so obviously this engine offers a range of possibilities. I suspect you're safe with the 2.0 110 in 4x4 at least! As you say, its extra torque capacity is significant. it's perhaps relevant that the Octavia Scout, which I think is mechanically more similar to the Yeti than the Octavia 4x4, doesn't use the 1.6.

Good luck with the new monster by the way. Sounds a good package you've gone for.

Found the answer to my own question :giggle: yes 215/60 tyres

Also noted that the ground clearance is 155 mm, so not 20 but a 25mm reduction :o

Now there's a thing; just looking at the SUK configurator and noticed they have the GreenLine down as having 205/55 R16 91H optimized rolling resistance tyres, not 215/60 :wonder:

That will lower the ground clearance by about 13mm in itself.

Mike

Can anyone confirm whether the greenline has a five or six speed gearbox and whether the top gear is taller than standard as on other manufacturers 'eco' models? Ie giving nice low revs for motorway driving?

hi focus, the greenline yeti has a 5 speed box.

mike.

So what is the difference between the rough road package and the aerodynamic package on the underside of the Greenline version?

Just curious!

One will designed to lower the drag coefficient and the other will primarily be designed to offer protection to the underside.

Progress Skoda in Letchworth have a green greenline in the showroom, and it looks very nice. Had a quick look round it yesterday when my dad was collecting his Fabia greenline after a service.

Yes, I had got that far; what I was really hoping for was a photograph or illustration.

Both presumably consist of a number of plastic panels, possibly sharing some attachment points.

Found some more pics of the GreenLine (without distractions this time :giggle: )

I just noticed something different.

The lower sides of the front bumper dont have the holes, they are sealed off...... i guess to streamline air?.

Not sure if i like that to be honest.

Im also really confused by the tire size thing, isnt it a bit wrong to change the diameter of the tyres?.

205/55 R16 is the approved winter tyre size for the Yeti and with the VAG group as a whole. Both my Octavia I 4x4 and Golf 4motion ran on these tyres as standard and they both felt more sure footed than my Yeti on 225/50 tyres over a wider range of road surfaces and in differing weather conditions. The 225/50 my suite an autobahn on a warm summers day but they can be defeated by the A166 across the Wolds :giggle:

mine are 215/60/16 though?

mine are 215/60/16 though?

Yes that's the standard size for 16" wheels, however they appear to be using the narrower 205 for the GreenLine. I assume this is to reduce friction between tyre and road.
