Revving engine

Featured Replies

Over the last couple of weeks the engine has occassionally revved a bit after coming to a stop or slowing down. It has only given a slight surge up by 1000 revs roughly. However I have now had an experience where it revved right up to 6000 + revs but then dropped back to normal idle revs. Has anyone else encountered this or ideas to solve?

Telling us what engine you have might help

I'm thinking it's a petrol engine if it gets to 6000 revs. Had similar problem with a Golf. My money's on the coolant temperature sensor. I called out the VW rescue people, he disconnected the sensor (the engine runs OK without it connected) and the local dealer replaced it a few days later.

It's pretty cheap too.

Been getting the same thing when I stop the car, from time to time, the car will rev to about 2,000 RPM until I come to a full stop.

Did a lot of Mods lately so I thought it had something to do with the tune.

Don't bother spending the money as I just through 100$ down the drain for the sensor and that didn't solve the problem, my bet is on the vacuum hoses or the brake booster, will check this next and post the results. :(

Hi

I just wanted to update that the issue has finally been resolved, it seems like a problem with the Intake system I had installed was causing revving problem and the high fuel trim reads (Block 32 Partial correction)

This could also be caused by a bad MAF sensor so if you are using stock intake and get this issue, change the MAF.

Cheers
